I was told this was a must have stop if you're disappointed to learn the Gorge Trail at Watkins Glen doesn't allow dogs or if it's off season at other hiking trails with the best views off limits. And WOW did it deliver!!! We parked at the bottom off Elmira, hiked up the Rim Trail, crossed at the King Road bridge then descended on the Gorge Trail. We saw most doing to opposite loop which is a much easier climb up stairs & narrow rock cliffs as the Rim trail is very steep natural path but I'm so glad we it this was because the payoff was amazing! The parking does get full & the bathrooms aren't great so plan accordining. The picnic areas & steps at the falls are worth the visit alone plus there's a family friendly playground! Bring a towel for Fido, the trails can get wet & muddy! Some spots are very narrow, steep & slippery so well behaved dogs should be kept on a close leash and know that in busy hours, you're passing many other dogs and hikers. Plenty of nearby places for a bite for your picnic or after hike! So glad we put this on our vacation schedule!

Such a gorgeous park with so many breathtaking views. There are some crowds during the daytime on weekends, but still enough room to pull aside on the trail with your pup. Well maintained and my dog loved it! Saw at least 8 other dogs while we were there too, so very dog friendly!

Parking was only $9 and no issues with bringing my dog along on the adventure. My dog had a GREAT time.

Steep trails but great workout for a well behaved dog. Swimming area just for dogs was fabulous.
- ChloeMore than a year agoShort trails, very steep
This park is really dog friendly, even the other people were really nice to our dog. The trail is steep and narrow, not a good place to go off leash. Great pics and fun, dog friendly environment!
