nice location to hang with your pups, but exposure to tar kills the fun! afraid I won’t be returning, not worth the risk.

I took my puppy to this beach as it was his first time in one, and he loved it!! I love how isolated it is. He was able to be off the leash, and just go nuts. Everyone else at the beach was extremely friendly, and respectful. Def going back!

Awesome off leash dog beach on the north side of Leo Carillo State Park. It's a separate parking lot and area. Beautiful rocks in water. Small stairs down to beach
- BrianMay 1, 2021Beware of the Tar
Beach goers beware - our family and four-legged partner just left Leo Carrillo dog beach, north of life guard stand #3, and we have tar all over our feet and shoes.
Worst of all, it got in the paws of our Indiana Jones. There are no warning signs of any sorts posted, so beware of where you step.
Many others were all cleaning their belongings, feet and sandals before leaving in the parking lot as we were leaving.
Great beach, awesome waves, great weather. The clean-up seemed to dampen the mood.
- Update; fortunately we did not have to take our puppy to the emergency vet. Used some veggie oil and Dawn dish soap and was able to get out 95%. Lucky it was only a single paw.

Have visited this dog beach twice. My pup loves to be active so this beach isn't quite for him but it is a nice spot to just relax as all you can hear are the waves crashing away. With it being an on-leash dog beach it is difficult for my pup to be active so we try to only visit when he needs a nice relaxing day.

Great beach, minus the fact our dog got into fox tails here and had to have emergency surgery a couple of days later. Dangerous. Keep an eye out.

This is a nice little dog beach. You can only bring dogs on the beach between booths 3 and 4 and you have to keep them on the leash but it’s nice to be able to play on the sand and in the water. The beach itself is beautiful!
