Reviews
Visitors generally find the Barkingham Dog Park to be a suitable space for their dogs, with separate areas for large and small breeds. They appreciate the ample space, walking trails, and cleanliness, though some note issues with water fountains, shade, and rude interactions between owners.

would be better if small dogs got trees and shade. Huge large dog side... tiny small dog side!!

Nice LONG park for ball chasers. We visited 3 times during our week in the area. The one day with lots of people in the park, the dogs and people werent very social. When there were just one or two of us it was much more friendly for an "outsider". We were lucky enough to meet a young full breed great dane (mine is a 75lb mix). The thought she was looking in a fun house mirror. Large park with lots of shaded areas.

I didn’t get to spend as much time at the park as I’d have liked due to water fountains not working. Be sure to bring your own water and a bowl! Otherwise the sizes for the off lead areas were decent. The small/shy dog area still had enough room for my shepherd to run, larger dog area had a few obstacles and things for the dogs to play on. Unlike other reviews, I didn’t see any trash or bags laying around or any dog mess laying around. I also went earlier in the weekday so there was very few people there that left shortly after my arriva. I’m from PA where our parks are so full the grass is non-existent it was nice to see grass cover and not come home muddy. However there are no toys provided so make sure you bring your own balls! I didn’t venture too far out on the trails because I’m still unsure about wildlife 😂. Overall it was a pleasant experience and my dog was happy to get out of a tiny apartment. Will be back!

Great park but only one trash at the front and no water containers. Bring your own water!!

We arrived with our small dog to find one couple in the small dog area with a small and large dog. We overheard the owner say he had them in there because the large dog doesn’t do well with others. Didn’t offer to remove his dog just ignored our presence. We ended up having to walk the trails which were littered with either bags of poo or just pile after pile. Never going back!!!

So there are two areas. One is fenced for of leash play, and it's kinda not that large because it's flooded right now. It's actually closed because of the water. Could be nice though. Next is the on leash area which is where we took our pups. It was nice but not much shade and there are signs warning about alligators. I can walk my dogs around my neighborhood and avoid the 20 minute drive.
Oh and I'm spoiled because I just moved from Colorado where the best dog park I the US is. So there ya go. - MarkMore than a year agovery nice park
This is a very nice dog park with separate fenced areas for large and small dogs with lots of space. Also has great trails around a lake and in the woods.

We travel quite a bit and like to try new dog parks wherever we go. This one is one of the nicer ones we've visited. There is plenty of space for my pup and me to play Chuck It and there is a dog-level (as well as a people-level) water fountain. It is also one of the cleanest dog parks we have been to. Nothing like trying to dodge land mines when you're playing fetch. We will definitely be back.
- FloMore than a year agoBest dog park around this area!
Love this park, it's part of our everyday routine. Fence for the bigger dogs is a pretty decent size, it definitely beats the dog park located deeper in Lehigh: Veterans dog park. Majority of the dogs are super friendly! They also have three different trails that all connect which unfortunately flood easily with the rainy season. We are looking forward to this fall and winter and keeping our fingers and paws crossed that the trails remain dry. If you walk all the trails you'll probably be looking at about 2 almost 3 miles. Not many people use the trails but they are always a good sniffing adventure for the pups! There's also a lake or pond area which is around 1/2 A mile if you walk around it once. Please bring friendly dogs! I've seen a lot of aggressive dogs that should NOT be in the park with other dogs. Also please remember to pick up after your dogs, a lot of people will use the bags and just leave them on the side of the trails or park. Giving the park only 4 dog bones as I do think they should have more disposal areas around the park so we don't have to carry their droppings till we get all the way to the front.

Had a horrible experience here. Two aggressive pit bulls in off leash area attacked m dog. Called the animal control dept and they said there was nothing they could do and wouldn't even show up Owners refused to give me their information and I was left to treat my dog myself. I blame the owners just as much as the dogs...

I was there earlier this week. Decided to take the walking trail. I have two small dogs, one of which is blind. I started down the trail with the cement walkway. Went about 3 feet, saw the sign warning about gators so I decided to turn back. When I looked up and back a 6 foot plus gator came of of nowhere and was up on the walkway.he had been watching us and continued to do so. I think it's time that this gator was removed as it poses a threat to people as well as their pets!
- MelMore than a year agoIt's the trails, people!
My greyhound LOVES this park. Just like any other dog park, sometimes the people and other dogs are not nice, but most of them are. Yes, the small dog pen is small. The large dog pen is fairly large compared to the other dog parks in SWFL. The big dogs can be pretty rough and tumble, so it might not be a good idea to bring your small dog in if they can't move fast enough to get out of the way, but I see plenty of small dogs hang in with the big boys! The pen is big enough for my girl to get up to full racing speed, which requires a significant amount of space. The best thing about this park is the trails, and very few people seem to use them! The trails are too muddy during the wet season, but during the dry season it's a great hike. We are regulars at this park. Hope to see you there!
- TanaMore than a year agoIt's ok...
I suppose I'm spoiled by dog parks in the Central FL area, but this seemed small, even the large dog area. The day we went the water fountain was broken, luckily we had brought our own water. Also, we regularly go to a park that has only 1 section, small and big dogs all play together and our Basenji goes to daycare where he plays with dogs of all sizes. In fact, he loves, loves, loves: Boxers, Pit Bulls, Rotties, Great Danes, and Dobermans. When we went, there was a very rude woman there who immediately left when we entered the "big" dog area saying that we needed to go into the small dog area. Umm....no. That area was super tiny, the larger area was already too small to fit our needs so why would I confine him even further? He needs to run and have room to run! As this is the only dog park near where my mother lives without going to NFM, it's a real disappointment. Small areas, broken water fountains, and rude people...thanks, but we'll pass the next time we're down. The only plus was that it was really clean and there are walking trails.
- MelissaMore than a year agoNot impressed
I was not impressed with this dog park but i guess something is better then nothing. in the lehigh acres area this is the only dog park to my knowledge so i guess its good that one at least exists. however, this park has two sides like most one for small dogs and one for big dogs. it looks like they put alot more effort on the larger side then the small side. they did have water fountains and poop bags but the only place to throw them away was across the street of the dog park, makes no sense. also they day i went there were only 2 other dogs besides mine so that made it boring as well. honestly i will probably go again to give it another try when im in the area again. i give it 2.5 bones in its current state.
