Dogs are not allowed on the beach. Dogs must remain in the "shaded picnic areas," which are at the discretion of whatever park volunteer passes by your dog. Park sheriff told me it was fine for my dog to be under the shade trees at the edge of the beach. Park cleanup volunteer told me to "get your dog off the beach now!" "Dogs must be tethered to the picnic tables -- not to the trees." Very rude. Fortunately, we were there only for low tide & sunset which had already passed. Local residents will tell you it's okay for your dog to be on the beach but the rangers make sweeping passes of the beach at prime mid-afternoon and remove all dogs / owners. There is no refund of your $6 entry fee, either.

We only saw one trail, about .3 miles, off Parking #5. Our dog was able to look out to the beach at the end of the trail. Also halfway on the trail, there's a sitting area for us to sit and look out. One of the attendants said our dog was welcome at the picnic bench areas, just not directly on the beach. So we will definitely come back for a picnic!

It says there is a nature trail here to walk your dog but there in no such thing. Since you cant walk them on the beach there really isnt anywhere to take your dog here. Dont bother!
