We have been coming here for the past 20 years over the course of owning three different dogs to whom love this one. But today after driving an hour to get here, and hiking up to the upper Lake, so that our newest dog take a dip, we were merely told by a park ranger to get the dog out of the water. That was disappointing, and probably limit our visits in the future.

We loved the reservoir where our dog can run and swim with other dogs. There's several trails to walk through. It takes about an hour to walk up to the reservoir and down to the waterfall.
If the parking lot is full, just wait a few minutes. A parking spot will open up as people exit out. - CindyJul 24, 2020Love This Place
This is one of the places we always take our labradoodle. We enjoy the trail and then we stop by the water and let him in. We always find other friendly dogs and their owner and we laugh at how silly our dogs are. We always enjoy the walk and it helps get our high energy labradoodle puppy get tired.

We tried this on July 3 (the Friday before July 4 so everyone is off work). It was really busy when we first got in, but then cleared out once we got further in. some of the trails were so overgrown we couldn’t walk through (of course those were not busy at all which is a shame). but we found a cute spot on the reservoir to put down a blanket and much and watch the dogs swim. will be back (excited to try on a Normal weekend!)

Plenty of trails, lakes, and space for dogs and humans to exercise and socialize.

Get when you want to get away from the main trail but still want to take your dog up to the lake. Generally runs parallel to main lake trail except much fewer people. Keep the Orange blaze in front of you at all times.

I used to take my puppy here all the time during the summer. When we meet other off leashers it's perfect. When people who are normal and keep it moving it's wonderful. When we meet people who freak out no matter what your dog does or does not do just because he is off leash it's the Pitts! There is a lake with off leash dogs swim and play most of it is wilderness. Why 3 bones. Big fun hard to reach. Beware of snakes, bears and deer. No bathrooms except at the bottom. The only reason I don't go as often is because we found drama free off leash locations. The hike up is hard when you have an active dog who is a natural hiker.
