- MaryAug 12, 2021Nice stop on the way to Florida
We stopped on our way to Pensacola Beach from Tennessee on a July afternoon. It is right off 45 before you get to Quitman. There is a $2 fee per person (honor system when we were there) that was worth it for a chance to stretch our legs and let our dog run around for awhile. We went on the nature trail just past the entrance. There is no off leash section, but no one else was on the trail so we were able to let our dog run around off leash for awhile and he really appreciated it! The park is very clean and well-kept, looks like it would be a nice place to camp or stay overnight,(I'm not sure how that would work with dogs). There was a barbed wire fence on one side not far from the nature trail which our dog avoided, I don't know if some would be inclined to run into it or not. People were swimming in a section of the lake and there was a splash playground. Picnic tables, etc. No off leash area.
