    Good experience

Free parking, easy beach access, not too crowded, dog friendly beach would recommend!

    Hidden Gem!

This is a nice little beach on the bay! It’s clean, easy to get to, and has clean bathrooms. There is a nice view of NYC across the bay as well. It’s also free access and free parking! Bring your lunch and the pup! The only reason for 4 bones instead of 5 is the lack of an area to rinse me and pup after being in the water.

    Sour Grapes?

Not sure why John has a bug up his butt (maybe he was in the long grass?) but nobody was kicked out of the old abandoned fish factory where they built those condos...

Not what it used to be

This was a great park for bringing your dog on leash to. The past few years it was maintained and the grass was cut. This year the Monmouth County Park System has decided to cut only 25% of the grass. This in turn will be a breeding ground for mosquitoes, ticks and flees along with the possibility of rats. The dog part of the park is at the end of Main St Port Monmouth and this is where they decided not to cut the grass. It would be better served as an off leash dog park and at the minimum all that would need to be done is a fence but I don't think they want to do that. This park was created by people being kicked out of their homes and bulldozed so that they could have open space. Nearby is a town house complex that was built by Hovanian and the development is called "The Dunes". They cleared wetlands to build this place and around the same time they did that they kicked the people out of their homes. If you ask me some politician was probably paid off. This occurred 20 some off years ago and the property has been vacant since. If your going to kick people out of their homes to have a park the least they can do is maintain it as well as have it for a specific use, not just open space.
