This is a great dog-friendly park. We got in a good challenging hike with our dog and she was off leash the whole time. She did attract some ticks but we got them off quickly and that just comes with hiking in this area. There is a range of trails for all skill levels. Highly recommend!
- EimearNov 13, 2023Great Spot!
We only tried the lupine trail but our dogs had a great time! We kept them on lead for the most part as theirs warnings of rattle snakes/ticks/poison oak but we were just playing it safe as they’re young. Next time we’ll be more confident! Maps are available at the visitor centre. We ran in to a number of dogs too which was nice!
- ChristineMay 14, 2023Excellent all around
Wonderful trails for all levels of hikers. Awesome to be able to have dogs off leash. And helpful staff. It's a gem!
- DawnJan 9, 2022We love GRRP.
The trails are well maintained. There are lots of poop bags and refuse cans so the park is quite clean. plenty of parking. When the parking lot looks “full”, once you cross the bridge, it is likely that only a few people with their doggos will be encountered on the trails. There are many benefits to visiting this park. And the Park Rangers are super friendly and fun to talk with.

So many different trails! The many options make sure that none of them are too crowded. Met some nice pups and saw really nice scenery.
- CrisOct 10, 2018Great for dogs
The park is beautiful and very well mantained. Dogs are allowed off leash through out the park. Everyone I met was friendly and happy to pet my dog. The visitor center has loner maps for you can buy on for a few bucks. The only minor downside is the traffic sounds. You can hear cars and road sounds well back into the park.

Wonderful park for dogs and humans. Miles of trails of all levels. Carmel river is a dogs dream.
