You can tell this park gets used alot! Lots of dogs in and out. Plenty of running room too. It's also right by the base so it's loud at times. Beautiful park!

    Good park

My dog really loves to play at Gadsden Park. There are three separate fenced areas, so you can kind of judge the dog situation and see where your pup would be the best fit. There are also water bowls, kiddie pools and picnic tables for mom and dad.

    Aggressive Dogs

Be careful about taking your dog here on weekday evenings. There is a large crowd of "regulars" with big dogs that can be aggressive. Many of these owners (almost all men) are more engaged in conversation than they are in managing their pets. Have seen several "new", young dogs get roughly handled by big adult dogs, including several male German Shepherds. Had to almost pull this big dog off my young collie mix while his owner was conversing with another guy only a few feet away. He did nothing. The same dog was aggressive with a few other young dogs, and the owner laughed a few times as he watched, as if he enjoyed seeing his dog go alpha over the smaller one. So, in summary, there is definitely a dog social hierarchy in this park during the evenings, with owners who come here often acting as if your dog better go elsewhere unless it can hold its own with the big boys (most of the dogs here are male, too). Location may be good, but this is not what dog parts were designed to be. If you have a large breed dog that you want to toughen up, you might like it here. But your dog may not.

    Great exerise for my terrier

The dog park looks like a converted baseball field. It has 2 large areas and 1 smaller area for small or old dogs. I have taken my dog there at 7 am when they open and there are usually 5-15 dogs. Plenty of room to run and play. Occasionally there is a dog fight, but the owners were on top of it when their dogs crossed the line from playing to fighting. Most owners pick up after dogs as well. I have to admit, I probably missed my dog's poop once, because I lost the location when I went to get a bag. Also poop bags are provided. I take my dog frequently. The only downside is the location, it is very south near Macdill AFB. You can smell the Burger King that is on base from the park.
