This park has insufficient watering devices. One small water fountain that is very slow at delivering water. The handle is very stiff and if you have arthritis, by the time you have a bowl of water, you're wrist will be painful. (Water sprinklers are set up here, so why the parks Dept. doesn't put in some regular faucets, like you can find at the Washington small dig park, is beyond me.). There are some small trees that provide a few feet of shade in the summer.
In the summer, when responsible dog owners take their dogs to the park very early in the morning, the parks Dept. Us there to close it down and cut the grass. Also, in the summer, the parks Dept closes the small dog area and makes a temporary one. This area gas one larger tree but NO WATER at all. This dog park seems to be in a lower income area or at least the parks Dept treats it like it's in a lower income area, making no improvements to keep dogs hydrated and safe in the 6 month long AZ summers. - Dale and jojoMore than a year agolabs, blue and dutchess
The dogs are pleasant and play well with others the patrons are animals. This group of "people" are clickish and judgmental. I am so tired of hearing sideways comments about my dogs nuts . "Of course I know he has them and I don't care if you care. Maybe some water features would calm the dogs down better, they sure would be great fun too push this clan of frumpy butts into .

This is a pretty good park. Most people are friendly and have nice dogs. I have observed several people NOT pick up after their dogs and this is very frustrating. I wish that there was a "dog park ranger" that would come by and observe and let people know they have to clean up after their dogs. It would be really nice if there was some water for the dogs to play in. But overall a good park with nice people. It is very crowded around 5-6 pm but my dog still had fun. She loves it there.

Pit bulls in the "small" dog area are NOT friendly - people do NOT watch their dogs... Very bad experience
- CherylMore than a year agoMud, dangerous dogs, concealed weapons
this must be the "pit" in pit bull of dog parks. Guns are common place. Dangerous dogs are everywhere. "Dog Park Mayors" abound. No shade. No grass. High crime neighborhood. In the past 4 weeks 2 dogs have been mangled and 1 killed. Please make one visit. That is all you need to confirm just how bad an off leash park can be.

Great park, large grass areas, well-maintained with nice people! One part for smaller dogs and one part for large dogs

11/17/2012 - The dog park is down in a water retention basin as the name implies. It's accessed via a parking lot on East Grovers Ave., west of Cave Creek Road. There is a fenced grass section for small dogs and another fenced grass section for larger dogs. These areas are accessed via double gates which prevent dogs from escaping. Water is available from a faucet in each area. There are several waste bag stations attached to the fences containing plastic bags provided by people that use the park (grocery bags, bread bags, etc.). There are 3 or 4 benches for sitting in each area and people have stocked the park with their own plastic patio chairs. There is little shade as the trees that have been planted are small and will need several years of growth before providing a larger shaded area in which to sit. Patrons have also left tennis balls and other toys with which the dogs can play. As you might expect, cleanliness is spotty as some people clean up after their animals and some don't. Although, I have seen people patrol the park with pooper scoopers cleaning up waste during their visits. Plenty of room to let the dogs run. I just wish there was more shade for the warmer months.
- JamesMore than a year agoWeird People
The dog park provides water but there is no shade. The "regulars" think they own the park and find the need to tell others what to do. However, the "regulars" that group their chairs together and flap their gums NEVER pick up after their own dogs. The park is filled with dog feces in the morning. Although there is a big dog park and small dog park, they group the dogs together in the small dog park. There are better parks in Phoenix than Echo Mountain.

I just moved here from Minnesota and this was my dogs first experience at a dog park. She had a great time time with the other dogs and the owners were all very friendly. There was a big area for the dogs to run, water, and shaded benches.
