While my four-legged friend and I were excited to find an off leash dog park so close to our vacation rental, we were disappointed by the overall experience. The park is at the back of a local park with tennis courts, a playground, baseball fields, and basketball court. It is not easily accessible from the parking area. You have to walk through the areas previously mentioned to access the gated dog park. The lot is mostly a sand pit. This was unappealing to my country dog who did not approve of the mouthful of sand she received each time she picked up a ball or a frisbee. There are three "watering stations". These are comprised of three garden hoses. One is near a small swimming pool, but it was filled with mildew and algae. The small rectangular size was not conducive to a long visit. My lab mix and I were both bored after about 20 minutes of play. For a short drive, I recommend the dog park at Empie in Wilmington.
