  Large, Well Maintained Space

  My Standard Poodle pup loves this park! It’s really big and they keep the grass and surrounding play area free from holes so pups can run full speed without tripping in a hole dug by another dog whose owner was too busy chatting to correct the digging. They have 3 waste clean up stations that are stocked with bags and most people are good about using them. I have witnessed folks pretending not to see their dog go to the bathroom and leave the park and pile behind which is rude and disrespectful to the rest of the patrons especially if you end up accidentally stepping in it or worse your dog gets knocked down in the waste! I don’t think this is the parks fault though since they do all they can to keep it clean. The locals need to care more about their dogs soiling the grounds than the latest gossip.

  Great Space for Play!

  We also live in an apt with a very active border collie mix, and love this park. We tried Veterans park, and even the dog was unimpressed.

  Mercer county has 2 large areas for small and bigger dogs both. There are fountains for water right at the gate. Everyone we've met, and we go a lot seems very responsible. The park is kept clean, and people are great at picking up after their pets. Yes, it is true that the benches are around the perimeter and in the sun, but we often, like other owners, bring a chair and park it under the trees in the shade.

  Our dog is 38 lbs, and we do bring him in the small dog area. He is extremely friendly with all dogs, including the teeny tiny ones that come here.

  Everyone we've met is great, and our dog just loves coming here and hanging out for hours.

  Great for those without a backyard

  We live in an apartment complex and this park is around the corner from us and is great for our pup! She loves to be able to get to full speed without a leash or harness. It has a fenced in area for larger and smaller breed dogs which is great because you don't have to worry about intimidation or your dog being trampled. Every time we have brought her we have met very friendly dog owners. A couple of problems are that all the benches are out in the open which is really unfortunate during those hot summer months when the steel gets really hot. The dogs tend to want to be close to owners too so have to keep ducking under the benches to attempt to cool down. There are shaded tree areas, but the benches are nowhere near those areas (the places the dogs prefer!). Would also caution that if you have a dog that has not had any kind of socialization to be wary. If they tend to attack other dogs whether being provoked or not PLEASE DON'T BRING YOUR DOG TO A DOG PARK! They need to be in a controlled environment, with a trainer to learn socialization first one on one with friendly dogs. Highly recommend this park for dogs who want to play and run.

  Recently expanded

  Both the small dog and the large dog sides have recently been expanded as of February/March 2015. Both sides have some agility equipment, but the biggest draw for my dog and I is the sheer amount of space... MUCH bigger than Veteran's Park, my dog can really get up some speed sprinting after a ball thrown the full length of the park. She comes home happy and exhausted every time. Would be 5 stars if there were a swimming area for warmer months.

  Bare Bones Windswept Park

  The only reason that I bring my puppy here is that it's close. And the dogs and owners seem friendly enough. But if you're looking for any extras, I wouldn't come here. Mostly grass with a gravel area (rounded pebbles, not rough gritty gravel) and some area that's become dirt. Two diferent parks, one for smaller and one for bigger dogs. There are 6 benches and usually you can find a seat. Lots of balls lying around. If you're coming here on a cool day, beware as it's always several degrees colder here than in the surrounding areas. And it's kind of on a windswept plain, so it can be downright freezing.
