We went through the trouble of getting a pooch pass because we wanted to take our dog to a park where we knew dogs were vaccinated and neutered/spayed as required. However, when we got there, the swipe pads for the pooch pass cards were all gone, ripped out. So basically it is a free for all.
The park itself is very large, shady areas, lots of benches, plenty of room for dogs to run. There is a water picket for fresh water.
It just seemed very clicky amongst the humans. My first time to the park and I heard comments that I didn't even bother to say hello (to the group huddled in one area). I found mostly everyone knew each other which is great but don't make new comers feel unwelcomed or awkward. Jeesh. The dogs seem to stick close to their owners and my boy had nobody to play with. So.. back to Selden dog park we go. At least everyone is friendly in Selden, pets and humans included!

great place been bringing our dog for several years. has water in warm months, yes you need to get a pass from town but that keeps out dogs that arent fixed yet or dont have rabies shots, it takes a few minutes of your time and helps keep your pet safe.

I have been taking my dogs here for 7 years and they love playing with the other dogs. There is water for the dogs until the weather gets cold and the water can freeze. It is a wonderful thing that the dogs need a pass, because this ensures that that they are neutered or spayed and have their rabies shots. Town of Brookhaven no longer charges for the pass but you still need to submit an application and proof that your dog has been spayed/altered and has their rabies vaccination.

This park is only welcome to pets that have a Pooch Pass from the town of Brookhaven. Not worth it. Easier and more fun for the dog to take a nice run in the woods.
