The park itself is wonderful, but unfortunately, the dog owners who bring unsocialized and aggressive dogs to the park and then fail to take action when they attack other dogs ruins this park for me. Watch out for dogs mounting your dog incessantly and other inappropriate behaviors if you do visit. I'm not sure if it's just inexperienced owners not realizing when their dogs start baring their teeth and such that that's a sign of aggression, but some people don't seem to understand that their dogs shouldn't be at a dog park or should at the very least, be removed when exhibiting certain behaviors.

Two fenced in areas for large and small dogs. The larger area has play structures and lots of area to run. The small park is much smaller, but still a good size for pups to run. Water available on both sides.

We live close to Pt. Isabel, but a few timesin the past year, when we couldn't stand the frigid Bay winds at Isabel any more, we've tried Ohlone, since central Berkeley's warmer & less windy. For a fenced urban dog park it's a pretty good size, and has nice features. Unfortunately, we've had too many unpleasant situations with aggressive, out-of-control dogs that belonged to deliberately oblivious people who seem to think it's against their principles, to actually do any training, break up fights, OR even try to learn any facts about canine behavior & psychology. Last time we were there, some old guy sat silent on a bench while his nasty dog repeatedly attacked some other guy's 4 month old puppy which ended up limping. No apology, no offer of a phone # in case there was a vet bill. Same dog had made some snarky moves at our own dog when we first went in. Lucky ours is always willing to be called away from potential trouble. Park is long & narrow, so we went to the other end. But soon a couple more pushy dogs arrived, so that was our cue to leave. This time, for good.
- SaraMore than a year agoTop-notch fenced-in dog park
I need a fenced-in dog park for my scent hound, and I was impressed with the Ohlone dog park. It's spacious enough to throw the ball in many directions and has a nice landscape -- some tress, rocks and fire hydrants to pee on and benches for people to sit on. There are water fountains for dogs and people. Also: it's a wood-chip lot! This is key during rainy season (it means it can stay open). There were two fenced in areas: one was quite large and fancier than the other, a small, grassy fenced-in area. There were large and small dogs sharing the big one when I was there. I liked this a lot better than most urban or suburban dog parks that are small and/or have lots of concrete.
