Gorgeous area to explore. We started in the upper parking lot checking out the amenities which were not bad at all. Clean restrooms and a nice dog bowl sitting out for my pup! Toilets were porcelain, not stainless steel like some parks, and running water with soap. Enough about that! The outer trail loop was awesome 1.5 looped trail that has dips and climbs, lots of beautiful old growth red alder trees wrapped in moss. The sun peaks through just enough to keep you warm on a cool fall day. We made our way to the lower beach access area, where there are multiple day use charcoal state park grills and picnic tables (at least 10) as well as a day use rentable structure. Make your way across the wooden bridge to the right to return to the parking lot, or down the path to the wooden foot bridge to a sand spit. There is a reminder to keep pups on a leash at the beach, or pay the fine other wise my dog would have been in some kind of PNW heaven! She still had lots of fun & dipped her paws into the salt water! This spot is definitely a 5-bones experience.
