We love going to this park. Yes, I agree with some of the other comments, such as people not controlling their dogs, and my biggest "pet peeve"..People that think it's so cute to bring their small children into the park and pet the dogs. Come on this is not a petting zoo. and if the dog isn't use to this it can be a problem. And as far as seats, are you really there to sit or to mingle and get to know the other people with their dogs. Overall love this park.
- DiddyMore than a year agoPotentially nice, but the people ruin it.
I've been going here for two years, almost every weekend and a day or two during the week. I suffer through it because it's not for me, it's for my dog, and I know she loves it. The park itself is nice and it has a separate area for small or big dogs. What ruins it is the people. Horrible dog owners that know absolutely nothing about dogs besides what breeds they are. You get people who flip out when their dog gets dirt or slobber on their fur, and you get dog owners who call the cops constantly for ridiculous things such as the dogs barking at them.
I've broken up many of dog fights there. Not even fights involving my dog, fights between other dogs. The dog owners will just stand there screaming their heads off at each other and won't do anything about their dogs.
There is a large sign posted with rules for the dog park, such as no children under a certain age allowed or size recommendations for the dogs in the small/large dog sections, but too often do people disregard the rules. People constantly bring tiny children into the large dog section. I've seen large dogs accidentally run into tiny children (and adults), knocking them over, and the people will go crazy over the dog that caused it and yell at its owner as if it was their fault their dog accidentally ran into them. People bring really small dogs into the large dog park as well, which of course creates problems.
Overall, ignore the place and go somewhere else, or go there really early in the morning and avoid busy times.

Disappointing for a town like Ridgewood. Too small, no seating, no water, seems like a lack of effort on their part. Try Brookdale in Montclair you'll like it much better.

Relocated park is smaller than its predecessor. Yes, the fence is pretty but my beagle was able to escape under, and my husband had to fix the problem himself. The worst problem is the lack of seats for dog owners, some advanced in years. The borough answered complaints by telling callers to donate funds for benches. Very responsible and responsive, right?

The dog parks were recently renovated and moved from the back of the park to the front. Definitely nice area for the dogs to play. However, for some reason this park attracts dog owners who refuse to control aggressive behavior. One of my 2 dogs (Aussies) is a little more shy and I have had to leave this park a few times due to aggressive behavior. I have heard this from a few other people who now mostly go to the park in Westwood. If you are there on a day with good people, then I'm sure the dogs will have fun.

Address is 1173 E. Ridgewood Av. Dog run is located inside the Saddle River County Park; Wild Duck Pond Area.
Good fenced in all gravel area.
The woods behind have a great place the dogs can swim in the creek. - WendyMore than a year agoBark Park
We love this dog park and go everyday. The people are friendly and most dogs are well behaved. Separate sides for large and small dogs and if you take a walk back behind the park there is a running stream that dogs and and people can play in. Its adorable to see the dogs running in the water and swimming. Bring your own water, public bathrooms on the park grounds.
