    Pretty good!

This is the largest dog park I’ve found in Philly. Has ample space for bigger dogs and a good-sized section for smaller dogs (<25 lbs). Great if it’s possible for you to go on weekdays, before 5 PM. On weekends and evenings though, my dog, personally, has gotten overwhelmed by the large amount of dogs and owners. She does tend to be a bit more fearful when crowded, compared to other dogs I’ve observed though. A parking spot nearby is generally pretty easy to find. Beware of going at the height of Philly summers, there’s little shade and pups can burn their paws on the turf. There is a water spigot and oftentimes kiddie pools for dogs to wade in. Overall, a pretty good experience every time I go.

    Meh

stopped here after a disappointing trip to Cira Greene. it wasn’t awful by any means, but you can tell they didn’t really think it through. it’s just turf on top of concrete, not uncommon for some dog parks, but there’s zero shade, so it was insanely hot. was in and out in minutes, as were many others, as it was just not safe for the dogs with how hot it was. would be three stars if they did something about that. it’s not anything to write home about or go out of your way to visit in my opinion

    Too overwhelming for my dogs

I have a 50 lb dog and 14 lb dog, and I came mainly so the big one could run around off leash, but on a Saturday there were at least 60 dogs and she was completely overwhelmed, got anxious and tried to escape out the double gate when another family was leaving. It's a nice park, well maintained and free, but it was too much noise and activity for my doggos.

    Not great for all dogs

I love this park however, my dog is very sensitive to noise and it should be noted that there is a train that runs directly behind this park. If you have a dog that is not acclimated to such noise, this may not be the park for you.

    Awesome Dog Park

Great Location right on the river. Tennis balls swimming pools and drinking water provided. And I loved that the park was split in two areas giving smaller dogs a space away from the bigger dogs. Made it easier to introduce my puppy to the dog park. All in all great first dog park experience and we will be back!

    Friendly

Decent size park for dogs to roam and have a good time. The dogs, and owners, are friendly and well behaved.

Great Park Beware of Weekends and Unattentive Owners

The park itself is great- it's clean and well maintained with seperated large and small dog areas. There's also a common park area that is not fenced for more well behaved and obedient dogs. Weekends get crowded and you get people that have no business taking care or having dogs. They are there to socialize among themselves and can not control their dogs otherwise. They bring their dogs out to tire them so that they can gain control. If you value the health and happiness of your dog bring them at a downtime and avoid weekends with inexperienced owners.

    Great Park

We have a little Shiba Inu and he loves this park. Its well maintained and there is a hose and water fountain for the dogs, so if your pupp gets dirty you can hose him off and you are you he always stays hydrated. When you go there you have 3 options : the park itself where well behaved dogs can be off or on leash and you can sit down and have a nice picnic, the fenced off park for large puppers and the fenced off park for smaller puppers. All of which are great. My dog, my husband and I love to go there and always meet great people and doggos.

Could be better, could be worse

Sure it's a nice, large space for our furry friends to run around and exert some energy, but I have to question the use of turf in a dog park, mainly because it gets disgusting. The space has an abundance of skid marks from where owners did a less than stellar job of picking up after their dogs, if at all. Sure, dogs get loose stools sometimes, and yea, you can only clean it up so much, but when tennis balls are constantly rolling through it and then going into the mouths of are pups, it doesn't exactly illustrate cleanliness and health. Beware weekends, which seems to be more of a social gathering with inattentive handlers and dogs who really have no business being in a dog park, not to mention the high frequency of dogs in there at one time.

    Amazing!

My little Yorkie boy is so friendly with people, but shy around other dogs. We love the small dog park because it has plenty of room for him to start feeling brave, and plenty of benches and trees to relax in the shade. The turf is nice because it's easy to see there is nothing potentially dangerous on the ground for the pups to get. Even when there are a lot of dogs it never feels too crowded. If your pup is shy like mine, it's still nice to sit in the breeze with them and puppy-watch. The big dog park looks awesome too, however that's not really his cup of tea so I will just happily watch them play from the fence. I feel the park is very well maintained and the other owners I've met have been very responsible watching their dogs and picking up any...earthly contributions. All in all a fantastic park that I love visiting (my boy, not so much but he's getting there).

    AWESOME

I took my older dog here 8 years ago and i enjoyed the safe atomosphere, although he didnt play much it was still a great place for him to be around other dogs his size and that were actually friendly and they can all be off their leashes, it also gave me peace of mind and i didnt have to chase after him or worry he would get hit by a car as so many parks are near streets even if the streets are a good distance but visible we all know how fast our babies can be. He passed away, and after 6 years of mourining I finally adopted another baby boy and i cant wait to take him to this park he is very energetic and loves all size dogs. Thank you to whoever put this together, its a great place.. If your ever looking for ideas to enhance the already nice area I would say a doggie pool or sprinklers for the spring and summer season.

    Great Space

This park is a great open space to bring either big or little sized dogs to run around and play. The turf keeps it clean. There are plenty of benches to sit and watch your dog enjoy a day at the park!

    happy tails

My Dog is 10 years old and this is the only place that peps her up and makes her happy. Great for owners also. No kids allowed in large dog area helps. Has water supply and bags. Plenty of seating. This park is a blessing

    Much better

I am a Philadelphia resident and I have been coming down to Schuylkill River for the past 10+ years and I must say, The Trail is beautiful. Some thing even better improved than the trail... the dog park. It was a small area filled with pebels and old gates securing the area. Now it is amazing. I took my daughter who was petrafied but it was nice that she had an option to see the little dogs by themselves. I don't have a dog but it was still agreat experience.
