Great path to walk as it is smooth and you can choose a short or long walk. However, there is little to no shade and people fly by on their bicycles. I am all for 'sharing the road' but most of the people on bikes have headphones in and are none-the-wiser to the fact that there are pedestrians walking. Not to mention how often electric bikes go whizzing past. Very pretty walk if you can get over the negatives.

There is no parking at the address stated above. There is a park with access to the canal further down the road.
The canal walk was pleasant, although the traffic noise from the adjacent road was loud at times. You need to be careful of cyclists too.

The canals are everywhere so you can always find one to hike on. If your dog can negotiate the steps down to the water, he can cool off when it's warm. The best thing is that the canal paths go on forever and you can tire out even the most energetic dog.
Some parts of the canal get crowded. And you may have problems with the racing bikes that are going 30 mph or so. You should always give them the right of way, whatever the rules are. The biggest problem is underpasses, which are narrow. I recommend pulling your dog as far to the right as you can until the bike goes by.
Some people run with their dogs on the canals. There's no car problems and you can go 20 miles if you like. The canals are the very best place you'll ever find for long distance running with your dog.
