Town Creek Indian Mound State Historic Site
Town Creek Indian Mound, a pet-friendly place in Mount Gilead, NC, defies typical archaeological patterns with over 50 years of continuous research. Set along the Little River, it offers a 1/4-mile nature trail featuring diverse flora and outdoor exhibits on native species. Picnic areas are also provided for visitors wanting to enjoy a meal or relax. Dogs are welcome on a leash, but aren't allowed in any buildings.

We enjoyed our visit. A greeter met us outside to welcome us and sign us in. It’s free and they even offered to put a water bowl out for Snickers. No pets in the main building but we were allowed everywhere else on a leash. They really have excellent staff who answered all our questions. We will visit again.
