    Ayia Napa dog beach

We went there on Sunday for the first time and I must say I was disappointed. The water was very dirty and is full of rocks. This is not a prober beach you can go and spend your day there. We need something much better.

    Dog "Beach" Ayia Napa

Sounds like the missing dog "beach" was a temporary thing during construction of the "marina" - as of July '10 there is an area labeled as a "dog beach" next to the "marina" which is next to Ayia Thekla - well outside of town, past the waterpark. "Beach" is actually a misnomer, because it's an area of rocky shelves that one can jump off of into the water. Possibly ok for bigger dogs to play, but not for small dogs, or for people who want to spend a day at the beach with their furry friends. I gave it one bone for the thought and effort, but it seems to be more of a publicity thing than anything else.

    Where's the beach?

Excited about the dog beach in Ayia Napa, we set off for Ayia Napa from Nicosia. Our very friendly and playful doberman was finally get to feel the sand and dip her paws in the water. Unfortunately, when we got there we could not get to the beach as it was closed off and looked like a construction site from afar. We finally found someone to ask in a near by restaurant and were informed that the dog beach no longer exists and that the construction was the a new marina in progress. Did the mayor, Antonis Tsokkos, not know that this was due to happen? The "dog beach" hasn't been there that long and already is no more? To me, it sounds as thought it was too good to be true and dog lovers again have to watch their back while take their pets for a walk and ignore the remarks and dirty looks from those not so dog friendly people.
