Located right next to downtown Portland, this hike offers over 30 miles of trails through a thick forest. The trails are moderately-easy and allow dogs on leashes. No water available so bring your own. The trails are beautiful and you have many options to choose from.

The last review states that Wildwood is wide and gravel, but it's not. Leif Erikson Dr is the one that is wide and gravel. The two parallel each other for a few miles with many side trails that connect the two, making many nice loop options. The Leif Erikson trail is also much more flat while Wildwood changes in elevation and direction as it winds through the park. I recommend using either Google maps or purchasing the Forest Park map when planning a trip.

This well maintained park is a favorite of locals and tourists alike. There are 80+ total miles of trails in this park and there are many points of entry.
Pros: Wildwood Trail is wide and packed gravel, while most other trails are more narrow and typical dirt hiking trails. Trails are well marked and there are even maps scattered throughout the park.
Cons: During the summer on nice days it can get very busy with dogs, people, and bikes. And the leash law is strictly enforced ($200+ fines).
Every time we go people are friendly and the scenery is beautiful! I've been 6 times and never take the same trail! - WilliamMore than a year agolove forest park!
