    Enough of the Dog Poop

Let’s all be honest folks…All the dog poop everywhere is disgusting. Why we think it’s ok to leave it where they drop it, is beyond me. I’ll never stop taking my dogs to the true gem of an off leash area, but those of us who refuse to pick up after our dogs are just fueling a fire that will lead to beautiful gems like this taken away. And, it is why there aren’t more like it. Heaven forbid, you have to carry a poop bag on your hike. I carry three.

    Large and open

The off leash area is up Church, almost to concession 5 but there is a parking lot for people to park in. Like the other reviewers said there is lots of space for your dogs to run, but also trails to walk on and the creek for them to splash around. If you've never been before it might be slightly farther north than you'd expect but nothing crazy. Admittedly there was of dog poop around but not so much as to be super noticeable or horrifically unpleasant.

Lots of open space and play areas while still having walking trails. The area is huge though so if your dog doesn't get out much maybe bring water with for them.

    GREAT!

I drive from Toronto to here on occasion. The city has no dog park like this. High Park maybe but no. It's not the same. You have options of a wooded walk down to the rivee. My boys love the water. Then to dry them off before we go home we walk in the old pit where its nice and open and there are trails in the woods there too. Great park!

    First Visit

I left after 5 min because all my dog wanted to do was smell all the poop laying around.

    Awesome rural off leash area

Greenwood is a very large off-leash area in northern Ajax. The terrain is quite varied, from flat sandy plains to hills and valleys and forested areas. A stream cuts through the property and there is at least one large marshy area for dogs to splash in. Parking can be a little tight (the lot holds about 20 vehicles or so). Don't make the mistake I did when I first visited -- the entrance to the off-leash area is NOT the signed entrance to the main conservation area -- it's on Church Street North, north of Taunton Road and just south of Concession 5. Overall, highly recommended.
