The park spans 90 acres on Moose Island and overlooks, at times, the pretty coastline of Cobscook Bay. There are several miles of trails that weave around the park, some of them leading through woodland to rocky headlands high above sea level. You'll discover plenty of pocket beaches and coves along the way that can be accessed by pooches from October 1st through March 31st. Along the trails, dogs and their owners may be able to spot Campobello Island in New Brunswick, Canada, the town of Lubec, and the Eastport cargo pier on Estes Head. The area also has a diverse array of birds and wildlife, so budding ornithologists should bring their binoculars along. Shackford Head State Park is open every day of the week from 9am until sunset.
