The tree-lined stone dust and paved path boasts views of the skyline while hugging the edges of a tidal estuary basin. There are abundant opportunities for birding, biking, running and walking. The Back Cove trail was first visioned by James Phinney Baxter, mayor of Portland in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
