Bryan Park Joseph Bryan Park, also known as Bryan Park, is a pet-friendly public park in the city of Richmond. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the park is a memorial to Joseph Bryan, the founder and publisher of the Richmond Times-Dispatch newspaper. Buttermilk Trail Buttermilk Trail is a 2.5 mile dog-friendly route which parallels the south side of the James River in Richmond, VA. The trail was aptly named after milkman would store buttermilk in a cool well while delivering milk to our doorsteps. The well in question is still located on the side of the trail. One of the most beloved trails in the Richmond area, take Fido along this narrow, curvy path dotted with small rocks and an abundance of wildflowers. Buttermilk Trail can be accessed by following directions to 42nd Street Entrance or through the Reedy Creek Trail parking lot. The trail is popular with walkers and cyclists so please keep dogs leashed. See Details
