For those who prefer hiking to fishing, there are more than ten miles of trails, some surfaced with crushed limestone, that wind their way through the park. Alternatively, you can wander on the Fox River Trail, the Leatherleaf Bog Trail, and the 3.7-mile Lake Defiance Trail. The River Road trail is a paved pathway that is ideal for all levels of hikers. Additionally, you'll find ten different day use areas which are ideal for picnics as well, but remember, Fido must remain on a leash wherever they are in the park. See Details

    Volo Bog Dogs are welcome at Volo Bog, a pet-friendly state recreation area in Ingleside, IL. You are welcome to bring Fido with you all of the trails in the park. The main trail is Tamarack View Trail, a 2.75-mile trail that weaves through woods, wetlands, field, and prairie. You can also check out Deerpath Trail and Prairie View Trail, two miles that lead through old fields, woods, and prairie. Dogs must remain on a leash under six feet for the duration of their visit to the park. Pets are not allowed on the Volo Bog Interpretive Boardwalk Trail. See Details
