It is possible that you may come across bears or cougars on this hike, or elk calves and mule deer in the spring and early summer. This 9.6-mile out-and-back trail is a gradual climb through large open meadows, aspen, and spruce-fir forests. The trail is popular with hikers, horse riders, and cross-country skiers.
