Pet Friendly Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is less than a 30-minute drive from the strip in Las Vegas. Leashed pets are allowed on dog-friendly trails. Owners are required to clean up after their dogs. Baggies for waste disposal are available in the campground and at the Scenic Drive fee station. Fido must be leashed at all times in the campground areas, and at other developed facilities such as the visitor center, Willow Springs picnic area and Red Rock overlook. Due to the extreme temperatures in the Canyon, pet owners should never leave their pets unattended inside their vehicles, and you should bring plenty of water for your pet as well. Pet Friendly Valley of Fire State Park
Valley of Fire State Park The dog-friendly Valley of Fire State Park is located in the Mojave Desert of Overton, NC, about 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas. The pet-friendly park lies in a basin 4 miles wide by 6 miles long, 15 miles southwest of Overton, Nevada. Its elevation varies between 2,000 and 2,600 feet. You'll see petrified trees dating back more than 2,000 years! Pets are welcome, but they must be kept on a leash of not more than six feet in length. They are not allowed in the Visitor Centers. Spring Mountain Ranch Spring Mountain Ranch is a dog-friendly attraction in Blue Diamond, NV. Located adjacent to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, there are lots of hiking trails throughout the park to explore. Along the way, you can stop in a tree-shaded picnic area and use the provided grills to heat up a sausage for Fido. Dogs are welcome to join their owners, as long as they are on a leash and all mess is cleaned up after them. The opening times of this area vary depending on the time of year. Historic Railroad Trail The Historic Railroad Hiking Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Boulder City! The map below shows a trailhead where you can pick up the Historic Railroad Hiking Trail. Pioneer Park Pioneer Park is a dog-friendly park in Winnemucca, NV. The park is mostly fenced and has lush grass that Fido will adore. There is a picnic area, playground equipment, and restrooms. See Details
Cathedral Rock Trail Cathedral Rock Trail is pet-friendly. At nearly three miles, this out-and-back trail is rated moderate as it can get a little steep at times. Bring your leashed pooch with you to wander up from Mazie Canyon, enjoying wildflowers and butterflies during the spring. You can pause for a moment at the waterfall around halfway up the pathway which has an old road leading to it. The trail climbs a few short, steep switchbacks before reaching the summit, with a spectacular view of Kyle Canyon. Be careful of wintery hikes as this spot is a major avalanche zone and clean up any mess that is left behind. See Details
Carson River Park Carson River Park is a dog-friendly open space in Carson City, NV. Bring Fido to this 40-acre park area along the Carson River, where dogs are always allowed off-leash. The park features picnic tables, an ADA-accessible fishing pier, a river ramp for non-motorized watercraft, decomposed granite walking paths, a trailhead parking lot and enclosed portable toilets. Exploration Peak Park Leashed dogs are welcome at Exploration Peak Park in Las Vegas, NV. This pet-friendly features a large grassy field, plenty of shade trees and a moderate hiking trail up to a peak with Vegas views. There is plenty of free parking, as well as restroom facilities. River Mountains Loop Trail River Mountains Loop Trail in Henerson, NV is dog friendly. Dogs are welcome to join their owners, as long as they are leashed and all mess is cleaned up after them. This pathway is approximately 34 miles in length and surrounds the River Mountains connecting Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Hoover Dam, Henderson, Boulder City and the rest of the Las Vegas Valley. Located just an hour away from downtown Las Vegas, Mount Charleston has 50 miles of hiking trails in a climate with temperatures averaging 20 degrees lower than Sin City. Known as the "Grand Canyon" of Nevada, Lamoille Canyon should be a must-see for anyone zooming by Elko on Interstate 80 with their dog. The scenery is fabulous, the drive easy, and by visiting Lamoille Canyon a traveler will be seeing a part of Nevada that only the locals ever really visit. The Lamoille Canyon Scenic Byway is one of the most scenic in Nevada and is just twelve miles one-way. The road is also paved and in very good condition. See Details
Kershaw-Ryan State Park Dogs are welcome at Kershaw-Ryan State Park in Caliente, NV. Situated in a colorful, scenic canyon at the northern end of Rainbow Canyon, the steep canyon walls tower to 700 feet and overlook a long, narrow valley. Early settlers in the area cultivated a garden of grape vines, fruit trees and a grass lawn surrounding a spring-fed pond. You and Fido can explore this unusual park together on the Overlook Trail. Locals suggest postponing hikes until the early evening, or getting up early to hike during the hotter months. See Details
Fort Churchill State Historic Park Fort Churchill State Historic Park is a pet-friendly recreation area in Silver Springs, NV. This historic site was once an active U.S. Army fort, built in 1861 to protect early settlers. Hiking the area trails, picnicking, camping and hunting are all popular activities here.
