dog parks demanded by non-residents

Somebody has posted to face book that a dog park is to be installed at an oversized neighborhood park in winthrop. There has beenlittle or no public discussion of this, but just a decision by some buttinsky woman who thinks she runs dog stuff. Dog parks may be ok for some people, but they can also be very messy (who cleans the poop?) and also may be dangerous for dogs - especially old dogs and very small mutts. The idea of dog parks is animals off a leash, but what is to assure that this or that dog is well enough trained and obedient so as not to cause problems for other animals. And who decides if this or that dog should be booted out?
