interstate 80 - ca to nd to minnesota to il back to nor cal

so i'm taking my pug on a road trip with me from sf area across to salt lake, ut then up to south and north dakota over to minnesota down to springfield il and back across again back to sf bay area.

going on interstate 80 for a large part of trip. so anyone out there have any special spots we should stop and see on i80?
