Dog travel

We have never traveled with our little dog before, is there things I need to be know to make our trip relaxing?

If your little dog travels well around town, and has ridden for 2+ hours, you should be OK, this assumes you
are traveling by car. We use a soft sided cage. Our little one refuses water pretty often, we try ice cubes to lick. We have resorted to wetting our fingers
and wetting her lips.
