We had a great experience! The hotel is beautiful and charming. Very dog friendly with a park 1 block away, loved my walk in Washington square so scenic. There is another park a Rios the street, great for long walks next to the water. We also ate at their restaurant and even though they were short staffed, everyone was friendly and accommodating. There was live music, food and drinks were great! Definitely would come back.

The Lorien Hotel and Spa is a great place to stay. Very clean, super friendly staff, conveniently located near Old Town Alexandria within walking distance to everything. I will definitely stay here again.

We arrived late due to bad crash on the I-95!! We were greeted by two very smiley receptionists who checked us in quickly so that we could get to our room. The night manager brought us a bowl for our dog. And creamer for my coffee. Showered and washed my hair. My hair is silky smooth. Must be softened water. We had breakfast in the restaurant. My omelette was delicious. The building was pretty. We parked right outside on the street; free overnight - metered from 8am. Thought the rate was reasonable. Would definitely stay here again.

We stopped as a one night stay on our way through, thinking Alexandria would be a great stop with lots to do with our furry family member, and were not disappointed. The room was large, and very comfortable, and King Street was a nice walk with lots of nice shops and restaurants. Because it was February, our dining options were a little limited out and about, so we ordered room service which was amazing! The room was quiet and let our pup sleep without being on-guard through the night, and the Lorien will definitely be on our list for a return stay.

This was my first experience with a ‘pet friendly’ hotel. Having a German Shepherd and a Rottweiler, we usually try and get an Air B&B but there were absolutely none to be had for this trip. Anyway, this hotel is also a spa so it smells divine!!! The rooms are spotless and large! There is a small refrigerator but no microwave which wasn’t a problem for us at all. The staff cannot do enough to help and are extremely friendly! I will definitely stay here again.

The location, room and amenities are all solid - clean, efficient, well-appointed common spaces. I would give the place 5 bones but I feel like they're doing what's expected for what they charge, not going above and beyond.

The staff were above and beyond wonderful, very helpful and genuinely nice. The area is charming. Wish the hotel restaurant was open that night but next time we stay there hopefully we will get to try it. Also there’s a free doggie treat “gum ball” machine in the lobby - the pups loved it!

I can’t find fault in Lorien or the surrounding area. So many great places to go within walking distance. Staff is friendly, professional, and eager to make your stay as pleasing as possible. Cleanest rooms ever - I wouldn’t have known it’s a dog friendly hotel by the state of the room. Again, just pristine!

I moved from another hotel to this one and was absolutely amazed by how dog friendly they were. They offered me various suggestions of where to eat, as well as having a restaurant below that can cater to your room in case you’d rather hang out with your furry friend there. I was genuinely impressed and will be staying there again, should I find myself back in old town Alexandria, VA!

I have stayed at the Kimpton twice with my 70lb Goldendoodle and the staff is very friendly, despite being an urban area, there is a nice park 2 short blocks away. The property also has easily accessible stairs for those who prefer stairs to elevators. The rooms are large, with nice furnishings and large showers.

Hotel was great with the dog and the room was really nice. Only issue is there is no place on or off hotel property to walk a dog. No grass areas! My dog had to get used to going on cement.

I’ve stayed here before and keep coming back. Spotless room, nice location. Not much potty area but I travel with small dogs so they don’t need much area. Might be tougher with a larger dog.

I drove an extra couple hours on my way back north to stay at a nicer hotel... Kimpton's have always been great. I'm not sure what the story is - but they are dropping the ball. It seems like they're using the covid excuse to cut back on their expenses.
Showed up around 9pm. No valet. No-one at the door at all. I put my flashers on and go in... guy at the desk was hanging out. He was fine - wouldn't call it a professional welcome. I check in to find out there is no parking. "Sorry, no valet and our garage is full. You'll need to find a spot on the road. IDK, maybe check to see if someone left the garage" Fortunately, I did find a space that would fit an SUV in the small garage because my car was pack from being in FL. I'm alone with two dogs, no help with bags and its 9:30pm in a city setting - I would have found another place if I had to park on the street. I find my way through the bowels of the garage/basement of the hotel and finally get to the room. Room was clean, bed comfortable. No amenities beyond that - covid.
I'm starving at this point - restaurant is closed (9pm on a Sat?) so I ask about door dash or something. "Oh sorry, we don't allow 3rd party deliveries". OMG!!!!!!!!! Needless to say, I get up at the crack of dawn and was out of there by 7:30am and found a beautiful park overlooking the cemetery - because there isn't a blade of grass within blocks for the dogs! My advice, KEEP DRIVING!!! (I'll also add that I own a restaurant, so I get the service industry and the daily/covid challenges. I NEVER leave bad reviews, this one was just too much!)

This hotel is in a great location. The only downside is that there is no green space at all on the hotel property. There is a park a quick walk from the hotel. There is also a dog friendly restaurant with a dog menu about a 20 minute walk down by the water. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The hotel also has a complementary wine hour!!

This was a lovely stay. Clean, well apportioned rooms, great staff and in a very cool part of Old Alexandria VA. They gave us an early check in and each person at the desk made a special point of taking a moment to greet our dog as well as us. The room was great: clean, really nice linens, comfy beds and pillows, spacious bath, and a huge TV. We were able to leave out pet in our room to go have a nice dinner. Would definitely stay here again!

This hotel was exceptionally clean. They have hand sanitizer throughout the hotel. Friendly staff and very accommodating. Really nice updated as well as exceptionally clean rooms.

This place is perfect for an overnight stay or weekend getaway. Rooms had a small fridge, beds were comfortable, and friendly staff. There is no designated relief area, but there is plenty of grassy areas on the sidewalks and a small park one block over. We arrived late on Saturday evening and received a ticket for two free glasses of wine or beer at the bar/restaurant on site. There's a courtyard, a library with seating area, and a fenced in outdoor lounge area that has gas fire pits. There was free coffee in the lobby in the morning. Plenty of restaurants and shopping with in a short walking distance.

The front desk staff was superb. When my first room smelled heavily of smoke they willingly changed and upgraded my room to one with a balcony. They were very professional and accommodating to any need that I had. Highly recommend

Staff was so friendly and hotel was so accommodating and the epitome of pet friendly. Only downside is that there is not an off leash dog park within a 15 minute walk so outside of the room our pups had to be leashed the entire time.

Location was near many restaurants and bars and a nice walk to the riverfront. There’s a pet store that’s close and worth a stop and we liked having a room tucked away in the back so she wouldn’t bark as much from the noise.

Hotel is very pretty, staff is wonderful! Not ideal for a solo traveler with a dog in cold weather. Only alternative was room service for dinner and the food was not good at all. They did comp me a dessert when I told them that. Parking is very expensive.
