Bear's-Eye View
"Bear's-Eye View"
Nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, at just over 3,000 feet elevation, you will find our private 3br/2.5ba cabin, with year-round long range mountain views.
There are no neighbors in sight from the cabin, yet you are only a few minutes away from convenient grocery locations -- Walmart (3.7mi) and Ingles (4.7mi). The quaint downtown of Spruce Pine is 5 miles away, and we are just 10 minutes off the Blue Ridge Parkway (milepost 331).
Our cabin offers a great “home base” for day trips to experience all that Western NC has to offer. Spruce Pine is located right between Asheville and Boone. There are so many possibilities for hiking, sightseeing, skiing, and river tubing, just to name a few.
Enjoy our new Starlink High speed internet for work from home and streaming capabilities!
The secluded nature of the property offers a great opportunity to get away and enjoy nature. Take a short walk to a waterfall, which is visible once you enter the private gate.
Watch the sunrise over the mountains from every eastern facing window of the house, or while relaxing on our expansive top deck.
Our 7 person hot tub offers an excellent vantage point of the Mountain View, which extends all the way to Table Rock and Hawksbill Mountain, located in the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area.

There is a door between the two downstairs bedrooms, but no door between the bedroom and the stairs. This room does not have blackout curtains, but the French doors have built in blinds that can be closed for some shade.
Access:
Guests will have access to the entire property. Except for "Owners Cabinets" below island in the kitchen, and "Owners Closet" in common area. Elevator is locked and not available to use.
There are no other houses past ours, so you don't have to worry about any through traffic, private paved road, private gate, and paved driveway.
Arrival:
Though we do not recommend arriving at any mountain destination in the dark, we have a large street light in our driveway to help you see at night if necessary.
You will arrive at a private gate upon entry to paved road and paved driveway. 4wd is recommended, but not completely necessary in normal weather conditions. You are fully responsible for how you will navigate the roads and driveway in all weather conditions, please make your best judgments. Chains and 4WD are recommended in the winter months, when inclement weather is present. There is a parking area at the bottom of the steepest part of the drive that gives you a chance to park and walk up the driveway if needed. You will be traveling on a well maintained gravel road prior to entry of private gate, but it does have some bumpy spots. The gravel road to the cabin parallels along a beautiful creek and makes for a scenic drive up.
Pests/Wild Animals:
The cabin is routinely treated for all pests, but please keep in mind the cabin is located in the middle of the woods, home of animals/pests of all kinds, including snakes, deer, bears, field mice, turkeys, a variety of bugs, etc. Nature is all around you, and there will most likely be an occasional bug in the house, especially if doors are left open. Understand this prior to booking.
Digital:
We have recently upgraded to Starlink internet for improved streaming capabilities!
Heating/cooling:
Mitsubishi “Mini-split” wall mounted heating and cooling systems for each bedroom, as well as each common area. Adjust each room to your desired temperature. There are also two gas fireplaces, and an electric fireplace available to keep you warm and cozy.
Children:
Children are welcome at the cabin, as we have young children of our own. Please understand the house is NOT “child-proofed” by any means. The cabin is also located on a steep incline and children should not be outside or inside by themselves unsupervised.

For sanitary purposes, we only provide single serve “k-cups” for coffee. If you would like to enjoy the traditional coffee pot, please bring your own preferred coffee grounds. Decaffeinated coffee is not provided, coffee grounds not provided, specialty teas not provided.
Paper products:
There will be an extra roll of toilet paper in each bathroom, as well as an extra roll of paper towels in the kitchen. This is only to help “get you started” for your stay. Please plan for the specific needs and timeframe of your group. The paper products we provide will most likely not last your entire stay, depending on the size of your group and length of your stay. Walmart and Ingles (grocery store) are both located close in proximity for your shopping and restocking purposes.
Dogs:
There is a $50 pet fee, up to 2 dogs only. Any damage caused by dogs will be taken from your security deposit. The cabin does not offer any fenced in area. We require that all dogs be house broken and non-destructive. Any dog left unattended must be crated.
Well water system:
Due to the remote location of the cabin, a filtered well water system is in place. Well usage requires a balance between water use, and letting the well fill back up, and it is important to be mindful of this usage. We ask that guests practice basic water conservation techniques, especially with larger parties. There is a 500 gallon water storage tank, that will have an automatic shut off if the well is over-used. It is important to give the well time between uses to replenish.

Please contact hosts directly if any issues arise and we will attempt to resolve them to the best of our abilities.
