Due to the diversity of the wildlife on the park, dogs are not allowed on the trails or in the back country at Cheyenne Mountain State Park Campground. Dogs are welcome in the campgrounds, picnic areas, and within 50 feet of the paved roads. They must be on a leash at all times and you must pick up after them. For more information on pet restrictions, please call (719) 576-2016.
Cheyenne Mountain State Park Campground is Colorado's newest state park, located just south of Colorado Springs. The park is 1680-acres and has 20 miles of trails to explore, but unfortunately, Fido isn't allowe on them. However, dogs are allowed in the picnic areas and campground. Every site includes a paved parking area, grill ring/fire pit, 10'x10' tent pad, picnic table, and amazing views of Colorado Springs. The majority of the campsites are full service and include water, electrical, and sewer hook-ups for RV campers. Tent campers are welcome in these sites, but there are also 10 unique walk-in sites for tents only. You have to take a short walk to get to these secluded sites from the parking lot, but it's well worth the effort! Flush toilets, coin-operated showers, coin-operated laundry machines, and a camp store are also available. The amphitheater and playground are also accessible from the campground.

The campground is just your basic campground. We had an RV/tent site and it was big enough to hold both with room to sit around the fire and not bump into anything. It's nice how they have the sites staggered so your not directly next to your neighbor. Dogs need to be on a 6 foot leash which is normal. They have about 6 "trails" you can take your dog on. They aren't anything long, I think totaling 3 miles. But they offer good views and a way to enjoy nature with your pup. There is water in every site too so your pup will have plenty to drink.
