Nickerson Park Campground is nestled deep in the Natchaug River Valley, beneath the sights and sounds of civilization. Separated from the 12,000 acre Natchaug State Forest by the cool, clear, trout-stocked, Natchaug River, Nickerson Park Campground offers excellent trout fishing, swimming and relaxing family tube floats down the river. The Natchaug State Forest offers abundant wildlife with fine hiking, mountain biking and wonderful photo opportunities. Wildlife species include white-tailed deer, wild turkey, pheasant, squirrels, rabbits, mink, otter and more. Awaken to songbird melodies with the morning sun and when the campfire dies, and the conversation and coffee slows, enjoy star shows that rival those found in Montana's Big Sky Country. Facilities include 100 spacious sites (50 along the riverbank), large pull-thrus with full hook-ups, WiFi, flush toilets and hot showers, laundromat, game room, and more!

We can't thank the owners/management enough for our stay here through fall, winter, and (eventually) part of spring. We have two large dogs (one that is an American Bully), and we have been accepted with open arms into this campground. Fellow campers have been great about keeping their dogs on leashes, and whenever a dog-related problem (like waste being left behind) arises, the management has handled it like a pro! This is a peaceful family campground with friendly people, and we will definitely return again if we are ever in the area.
