This little joint is JUST what we needed as an overnight stop on our way down the California coast. I was delighted by how clean and tidy the room was, especially after reading a handful of scathing pre-pandemic reviews. This one-story, roadside motel has *indeed* been renovated — the resulting rooms are uncluttered, unfussy, and totally spotless (expect practicality rather than luxury though). The motel provides necessities (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, lotion, hair dryer) and a small kitchen with microwave and coffee brewer in a nook nestled between rooms #13 and #14. For our doggy, there was astroturf in the center of the parking lot, and I found larger chunks of grass behind Pedro's tacos and up the hill on the way to Our Savior's Lutheran School.

The staff was lovely, especially Joyce! Very friendly and helpful. The motel is in a good/convenient location, cute, clean. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in town!

Happy to have stayed at Calafia Beach Inn. They didn't mind out 100 lbs dog staying with us, despite the no pets sign at reception, but we booked with BringFido and all was good.

We got a room for two nights while camping with family at San Onofre, so we had a place to shower and sleep.
The bed linens and towels were clean. Not plushy but we didn’t expect it. If we wanted that we’d pay three times more for a big chain hotel.
This is a surf hotel. Most of the rooms were rented by surfers. Bare bones but clean and the owners were very nice! I’ll definitely be back next year!

This place is GROSS. It may look nice in the photos, but the floor has never been mopped, the walls are dirty and the sheets have stains. We checked in for a 4 night stay, saw the condition of the room and booked ourselves somewhere else to stay. Unfortunately, we had to stay for one night. Clearly, between guests nothing is cleaned, they just change the bedding. Everything in the room is beat up looking and feels unclean. I washed my hands after touching the light switches and door handles. This place is best avoided.
