The Mermaid Inn was an interesting stay. It is a very old and plain facility. Items in room were old and rusted. However, everything worked well. The bathroom was clean and the water was hot. They provided plenty of towels. It's location to the beach was ideal (like 50 steps). The check-in process was down through text and there was a passcode provided to enter the room. There wasn't any attendants on the property. However, there wasn't any incidents and everyone adhered to the quiet hours.

Location was prime and my dog was able to go everywhere! The staff was friendly overall. The hotel was a little dated and bare minimum was given, but it is what I expected for the good price. I would stay again just to be with my pup :)

We stayed in this Myrtle Beach hotel for one night with our Maltipoo. Check-in was easy, the staff was friendly and even gave local recommendations. We had to switch rooms one time since we had a leaking sink. For a pet friendly hotel I would say you get what you pay for, the pet friendly rooms look obvious that there have been others before you. They could improve on cleanliness.

I was blown away by how great the Mermaid Inn's location is, especially for the price. Dog fees for my two huskies were $50/each at the start of my stay, but it was still the cheapest option I could find for us without sacrificing quality. If you want a cheaper, no-frills option to hang out on the beach with your pups, I'd highly recommend the Mermaid!
The room was clean and more than large enough for all three of us. We could see the beach from the front door. The door of my room did seem a bit thin so I heard a lot of what was happening in the outdoor hallway outside, but that really wasn't an issue during our stay outside of peak season. The room had a coffee machine, a mini fridge, and a microwave which was convenient.
As a bonus, my pups made a new doggo friend who was also staying at the hotel. They had a great time playing together on the beach. Beach access was free and it was very clean, although I can't speak to what it'd be like during the height of summer (we stayed in March).
The parking lot is directly in front of the hotel which was really convenient. If you want to arrive early and get into your room or receive your parking pass, know they do charge an early check-in fee. Staff was super friendly and I felt safe as a solo female traveler at this hotel, which is really important to me.
Overall, I highly recommend the Mermaid for a chill, dog-friendly, beach-front spot. We'll definitely be back. - StacyMar 26, 2022Great Location
Arrived a day early to the area and needed a dog friendly room for one evening and something that wasn’t overpriced with dog fees. The location is great for taking the dogs to the beach, bed was comfortable and we slept great with our two dogs. The room shows its age but again for the price, location and dog friendly we would book again.

Would you believe this was the only place in Myrtle Beach (and all surrounding towns) that would allow a dog over 50 pounds without charging a ridiculous non refundable deposit? It was in convenient location, although the street noise kept us awake. The disheartening part was that the people next door to us kept leaving their dogs in the room while they left. The dogs naturally barked non stop. We would stay again, but only so we could be with our dog. People can be so inconsiderate and ignorant.
