Hotel was nice, but all the construction around the building made it hard for one of my timid dogs. My anxious small shepherd refused to relieve herself in the area. Had to take her to a nearby park. There was no grassy area around building. New construction took that away.

Great hotel and staff and we had a super fun vacation with our little Ella. She was welcome at every restaurant in the area. Not allowed on the pool deck. With that said here are a couple of things to consider. None of these affecting the 5 star rating. There is a lot of construction in the area. Everywhere! So it’s loud and noisy - even for being downtown. Maybe a year from now some of the construction will be over. ? :) and no grassy area nearby for her to relieve herself. She’s a city dog so it wasn’t a big deal for her.

We stayed here for 7 days. Our dog was treated like a king by all the staff and patrons. Hotel is located around the corner from Rainey street, where every bar is dog friendly and welcoming. There is also a large park about a block away that connects to the walking path that runs all around Lady Bird Lake/Colorado River. The only complaint I would have was even though they don't charge you for a pet, there is $56/night charge for parking. The lot around the corner was $35/day, so not horrible. Just a heads up. We are already looking into another trip here.

Enjoyed our stay at this hip place. Staff was incredible and the location was great. Walked the river and to the capital building. Rainey street is literally around the corner so we were able to take out pup bar hopping and ate in the food truck court.

Beautifully appointed hotel with dog bed/bowls ready in the room and potty bags with the lobby staff. Caveat to the location is lots of people and bars down the street so some dogs might be overwhelmed. In the immediate hotel area it’s nice and quiet.

We had a guaranteed reserved room. We were moving our daughter and her dog to Austin. We drove 1200 miles in 2 days arriving at 10:30 pm. We valeted the auto, clambered out in an extremely busy area, only to be told our room wasn’t available. They had a room at the W that they would pay for and provide transportation to. We had to wait for a Lyft driver, which I had to remind the manager to call after the front desk told me they were doing this and they weren’t. We finally got to the W 30 minutes later, no door on the bathroom there, for a double Queen with 3 guests and a dog. I get a notice that the W charged us full price! I had to call both the Kimpton and the W to straighten this out. Lots of wasted time on something that should have been settled. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN KIMPTON AND W.

After driving across the country with the pup, it was nice to finally find a clean hotel with kind staff. They let us check in early, were extremely nice, and very helpful. They have free happy hour from 5-6. You must valet your car, but it is worth it with the lack of parking. However, it is an overall great location being right next to Rainey and a short walk to the lake. The pup loved it and I’ll definitely stay here again!

Everyone at Hotel Van Zandt from the doorman to room service were amazing. Extremely dog friendly, and had no problems at all getting our car from valet at any hour. They even had a text service so that the car was out front waiting for you by the time you came down. The only thing I will say is that the hotel across the street was under construction so we had to be careful walking our dog. And there wasn’t a dog station set up so we had to find patches of grass where we could. Rooms were very clean and very elegant. Would stay there again.

This is a very nice hotel and extremely dog friendly. The rooms and bathrooms are a good size and very comfortable. The location is great, as well. They provided bowls for our dog. :) We had an unfortunate situation on our floor very late at night and when I went downstairs and spoke to someone at the front desk, which turned out to be Pilar, she took care of it right away. Pilar, Hailey and the valet staff were all very kind and helpful and my boyfriend, his dog and I will definitely visit again. I highly recommend the Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt.

We did a 10-day cross-country road trip and this was the best stop along the way. The hotel is large with plenty of space at happy hour where Lola was much loved by staff and guests alike. The room had impressive views of downtown Austin and fantastic access to Rainey street and best of all the miles and miles of walking trails. Lola enjoyed a 7-mile walk round trip from the hotel and never had to cross a busy street!
