      Nice historic building

      So, the Tavern on the Bay looked promising from the photos, but if you are expecting a hotel or B&B experience, this is not it. I booked a room via e-mail, I confirmed it via e-mail, and checking in was still problematic. They did not have my reservation or room correct. For $125 per night, I expect a bit more organization and service. There is no one in the building during the day other than guests. The staff arrive at 4 PM when the restaurant and bar open. Room was small and clean, and decorated in keeping with the 1880's building, but not the one I requested. While they are pet friendly, $50 per pet per night is extremely high. I don't mind paying a bit more to bring my pets with me but this is too much. Having said that, they did allow us to bring two large dogs. The restaurant and bar staff were great, very friendly and welcoming. They just need better management and scheduling if they are going to accept guests for their rooms. The direct views of the bay and marina from all rooms via the exterior deck are very nice.
