    Needs a Facelift

    While we were grateful to find a local hotel that accepted big dogs and multiple dogs while we were having a construction project done at our home, we were shocked to see the state of the DoubleTree once venturing beyond the lobby. The rooms are in atrocious condition from banged up doors to badly patched water damaged ceilings. We had to wet a wash cloth to wipe down the desk and other surfaces that were not only dirty but sticky. An obvious bathtub leak above our room had been patched without bothering to retexture. The bathtub had an enormous chip in it and toilet as low as an elementary school. Each queen bed had three pillows we affectionately referred to as prison pillows.

    Accepting dogs was the only dog-friendly gesture. No bowls…not even any idea of where to walk the dogs, designated potty places or poo bags (like Marriott) or even any idea as to what exit to recommend. We had to extend our stay which was another nightmare that was botched a total of three times. When we returned to our room from dinner, there was a drunken guest trying his keycard in every door and spitting tobacco juice in the hallway. We called to report but desk was completely disinterested. Had to plug in the landline. No option for apps on the unsmart tv’s and only basic DISH network. Wireless was unreliable and slow even though we paid a fee for their premium option. There was no room service menu, no hotel information or hotel phone list. When we wiped down the desk the cloth was black.
