The perfect cozy dog friendly cabin.

This place was the perfect location. Feels like your in the middle of the country but you are 15 minutes from downtown Fairhope. Fairhope is such a cute little town with lots of great shops, restaurants, coffee houses and much more. If you don’t want to shop and want a beach feeling, it’s a 30 minute drive to Orange beach. Just so much to do all around you here. The cabin has absolutely everything you could possibly need, Just bring yourself and your bags! We had a new puppy with us and came somewhat unprepared and Rachel had everything we needed. A dog bed, 3 dog blankets to lay on the furniture if you want to cuddle with your dog while watching a movie from her huge movie collection. Even homemade dog treats. They also leave YOU special treats, wine and chocolates, and warm homemade muffins one morning. This place was just such a treat! One of my favorite things was waking up and walking out onto the Beautiful porch to drink my coffee. My view was a Beautiful horse right in the back yard. If you want any of their recommendations, just open the book she leaves for you. All of their favorite places to visit. Jesse’s was our favorite place to eat nearby. We loved that their was a washer and dryer on site also. 3 different coffee pots, toaster, full kitchen all set up with everything you could possibly need. We will for sure be returning. There is also 2 airstreams on the property that are available to rent out which are just adorable if you want that type of vacation. Both have nice outdoor covered areas also. The perfect getaway🙂

Button down concierge service on the farm next to the beach!

The Fairfield Farms Cottage should already be on your bucket list – my family and I spent ten nights there this past summer and it proved to be a slice of Americana sprinkled with some worldly influences. I recommend this rental to anyone staying in the United States . And once you meet Rachel and Uli, you’ll want to make them your neighbors and extended family…
For readers who like spoiler alerts, I’ll oblige and summarize. This place is just that unique that it’s hard to compare it to anything else. The pictures were clearly taken by a pro photographer and as excited as they get you, just wait until you see the property. You enter through a majestic enclave only to slip in through a hidden entrance to something you have to experience – it never gets old coming and going through their gated entrance. Amenities are more than plush and space is abundant for a family of four. Cottage is retro “smart” and appliances are full-size and complete, including washer and dryer. In sum, you’re renting a 2 bedroom, 1 full bath, complete kitchen and separate living area on a 20 acre spread.
For those still interested in learning a bit more, here you go. I’m a school administrator and my wife is a school teacher. We have two teenage sons and a nine-year-old lab and I plan to book this place for two weeks next summer! From the personal escorted service on arrival to the surprises in the refrigerator on walk through to the next day welcome breakfast treats to the thoughtful appointments throughout the stay. Rachel and Uli are special people you always remember and forever root for, the kind with big ideas and noble ambitions. I’m not sure if they have any formal background in hosting which is all the more impressive – you get the impression real quick that even if this wasn’t an Airbnb arrangement they would do nothing less. They surprise you with fresh flowers, special treats (differentiated by age brackets no less and include the pets), check in on you as your comfort level suggest, and have great recommendations for the area (well beyond the ultra-charming Fairhope). If you have a bad car battery (as I did), Uli will bring his charger over first thing. If your battery is still bad and you have a super special tennis lesson lined up for your 15-year-old with a local rock star tennis pro that Rachel helped to line up, and it’s 7:30 in the morning and the lesson starts at 8:00, Uli will give you the keys to his truck. If you want to learn more about how Rachel has made her calling all things horses, she’ll gladly introduce you to the two mainstays and all you need to know about equestrian life and you quickly understand why it’s such a rare talent found in those that serve as caregivers. And if you’re a baker as my wife is and you’re pushy enough (as my wife is) Rachel just might share some of her secret recipes.
We hit five different beaches on this trip but the thrill was always coming back to the farm and waking up too early just to plop down on the front porch and listen to all the sounds that farm life affords while drinking coffee (compliments of a provided Keurig of course). On our return trip I hope Uli lets me help in the mowing and hop on one of his tractors and my wife hopes Rachel lets her help out in the gardens and continue to learn more. In my experience, people in general want the “good guys” to succeed and Rachel and Uli are the poster couple for any worthy cause. This trip didn’t prove life-changing for my privileged boys but it did slow the pace a bit towards wants and desires and reinforce a bit of the needs message. There are plenty of amenities to get lost in at the Fairfield Cottage but what Rachel and Uli are about tempers the bells and whistles with basic yet wow.

    southern hospitality

If you find youself in southern Alabama. spend a few days with Rachel and Uli and the rest of the farm. fritz and harley their two dog will welcome you also. Rachael had our dog (our baby) Otis his own bed and blankets and treats ready went we walked in the cottage. Otis was treated like a king. Rachael also treated us humans like royality. It was like staying with some old friends. The dogs would meet in the morning and play. We never had to ask for anything because Racheal had the cottage stocked and cleaned and it felt so comfortable we didnt want to leave. We had to call one night and Uli brought over an air compressor because my friend had a flat tire. Above and beyond is what you can expect when staying at the cottage. The special touch they apply truly make for a relaxing stay for you and your pets.

A piece of heaven for you and your four-legged friends!

This place is immaculate and so peaceful. Rachel and Uli have a fantastic place that feels like home from the minute you walk through the door! Two extremely interesting people that are so much fun to talk to and get to know! While I was working they came by and checked on my dog and kept me up to date and him exercised. I never worried about a thing the entire trip! I came down for work but left more relaxed than if I had gone on a cruise for a month! This place is truly a diamond in Baldwin County and I can't wait to stay with them again!
