    Didn’t Feel Safe!

Made the reservation through BringFido about a week or so before the arrival day. Called the hotel to ask for a ground floor room since they don’t have elevators. The person I spoke to said YES we have ground rooms available and said she I would be able to have one. However, of course when we arrived and checked in I was not given a ground room and was told there were NO ground rooms available!

The lady helping was apologetic and said she would leave a note to see if something opens up the next day and said someone would give me a call. That doesn’t help at all! I have to get my blind dog up two long flights of concrete stairs. The lighting situation at this hotel is absolutely horrible! The parking lot is dark and the rooms are pretty difficult to find in the dark. The buildings are almost like apartments. So, the room doors are all outside.

The buildings are barely lit and going through the corridors to try and find your room is pretty uncomfortable! The numbers on the doors are not lit up, so you practically have to walk up to the upper rooms to read the room numbers. Nobody ever called to switch us to a ground floor room. So, I ended up carrying my 40 lb blind dog up and down the long flights of concrete stairs.

It was pretty interesting when we woke up and things had froze. Going down the slippery stairs with a slippery hand rail carrying a 40 lb dog was pretty sketchy. I would not recommend this hotel and am extremely disappointed in my stay! I understand if there were no ground floor rooms available when I called but I was told there was and one would be reserved for me!

    Dog friendly areas ok

It's not a Sonesta kind of hotel but it's okay.

    Neighborhood is questionable

Let me start by telling you the positives. You have plenty of room in the hotel. It's like a mini apartment. They do have some green areas within the complex to take your dog to go the bathroom. The employees are very nice & helpful. The front desk is open 24/7 with fresh coffee and hot water if you want tea. They also have a little convenience area to purchase travel size pain meds or snacks. The Negative is the neighborhood seems sketchy at night. The lady at the front desk said it was safe neighborhood, but it looked like the next-door storage facility had a couple of transients going in & out. We went to Walgreens 1/2 mile up the road & had a transient run in and scream he has zombies at his house. I'm not kidding! He left when they were going to call the cops. Again, we felt fine within the hotel complex. I do realize that in general, it wasn't uncommon to see transients throughout Colorado Springs.
