  Comfortable stay

  Comfortable describes this very relaxing, convenient hotel close to all the DC monuments and historic sites. Almost everything is within walking distance. Our dog was welcome and so were we. We couldn’t have asked for more in the way of the comfort and convenience.

  Great pet-friendly hotel

  We just got back from a quick family trip to DC. The River Inn was a super clean, pet friendly hotel in a great walkable neighborhood. There’s a small dog park really close by for dogs to play and do their business. Stewart, our golden, insisted on walking there during every potty break!

  Great for pets!

  The hotel staff was great! No complaints there. It’s a great hotel for pets. The room itself was spacious and fit our family of 4 & 3 fur babies comfortably. I would like to add the bathroom cleaning needs to be addressed. The shower looked like it hasn’t had a good clean in some time, the tub wouldn’t drain and the mirror had toothpaste on it from pervious guest. It needs some attention. I did give 5 bones because they seemed to be only place around that allowed more than 2 pets.

  Quaint, Service Oriented Hotel

  Well, this hotel makes you feel like you stopped in to visit relatives. They treat you with such warmth and kindness. We had a camper van, a pup and it was absolutely no problem for them to valet our vehicle and gave us this awesome pet-friendly room on the 7th floor. The neighborhood is within minutes of George Washington University so you get the suburban yet vibrant feel. Plenty of dogs in the neighborhood and the folks on the street were super friendly. Will visit again when in town!

  Immaculate Accommodations!

  We spent the weekend in Washington DC/Georgetown. Every staff member was friendly, professional and great at their jobs! The room was very large for my family of 3 adult children and two dogs. It was very clean and the location was perfect for walking the dogs and getting to restaurants and shops. The In-N-Out parking made a rainy weekend easy and accommodating. What a perfect gem for us to return to and future travels! We will definitely be back and highly recommend this hotel!

  The visit was a delight

  We loved everything about our visit. The hotel was stylish and attractive, without being too fancy. The neighborhood was just perfect. Our room was roomy, fresh and clean and well-appointed. We especially appreciated the kitchenette, even on the short visit. Everyone on staff was super friendly and helpful. Our dog Happy gave it two paws up!

  Great Location and Considerate Staff

  Fantastic block for dog walks, especially in spring. Staff learn your name immediately and take good care of you. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfy. My Goldens felt very welcome.

  Absolutely perfect!

  The location, the staff, the spacious room. I cannot say enough great things about the River Inn and the friendly people who work there. Dog bowls and treats are available along with a small dog park that is directly behind the hotel. About a 15 minute drive from the National Mall, which both myself and two dogs had a great time exploring. Definitely worth a stay here if you are visiting the DC area!

  Fabulous!

  We loved our stay at The River Inn! Everyone was so helpful. Great location and thanks to Will we had a beautiful walk to the Lincoln Memorial and a fabulous dinner at Circa. His suggestions and map were 5 star. Our room was beautiful and the full kitchen was amazing! Brandy and Mr. B also made our stay feel like home away from home. We and our mini golden doodle had a great visit to D.C. thanks to this gem of a hotel!

  Perfect location, wonderful dog happy vibe, small dog park with playground just 2 streets over and overall a great experience. The room was perfect size for a family with teenagers and fur ball.

  Very dog friendly

  Did not feel out of place with our dog moving in and out of the lobby/hotel. Dog park is less than 3 minutes away, and a very nice amenity. Hotel accommodations served our needs perfectly, and wouldn’t hesitate rebooking!

  This was by far the best accommodation we have ever found that allows our two 100lb dogs. No fuss no problems at all. Very clean and friendly staff and establishment.

  Pup Loved Foggy Bottom, So Did We

  Lovely hotel. Oversized room with efficiency kitchen made it very handy to keep dog food (and snacks-wine) chilled. Perfect location near Geo. Washington University Hospital. I messed up the reservation date but front desk staff was gracious and made it right. Reasonably priced and no extra pet fee. Quaint neighborhood for dog walking. Lots of cafes with outdoor seating welcomed our pup. Would stay here again with or without my dog.

  Hotel staff very helpful and friendly!!!! Excellent locatio. There is a fenced small dog park nearby and a big dog park a few blocks away. CVS, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, 7 eleven and the metro all within walking distance. The tourist attractions like the Lincoln memorial and Georgetown are within walking distance. Hotel room is very spacious my dogs love it. It also has a kitchenette. Will definitely comeback with my dogs!!!!

  Very relaxing

  Staff was very friendly and welcoming to my dog. We felt comfortable from the minute we walked in. Super relaxing front patio to hang out with your pet. Nice laid back neighborhood with Whole Foods in walking distance.

  Pleasant suprise! Our room was clean, well maintained and even had a kitchenette!
  Park located 1/2 block from hotel for our Westie. Parking under hotel, extra security for use of elevator. Cheap! Located near GWU, metro, restaurants, Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. We will be back!!

  The customer service here is outstanding. Had some trouble with a room and the front desk staff was more than helpful. Rooms are clean and spacious and me and my two large dogs were as comfy as could be.

  Urban Haven for Doggie!

  Stayed 2 nights with my Labrador. From the doorman to the desk staff, everyone welcomed us warmly. Hotel was clean, large room with comfy bed and a great location in D.C., just three blocks from coffee, restaurants and a market. Lots of grassy islands for doggie business. I stayed on a weekend so was able to park on the street within two blocks. Otherwise it's a two hour limit and your alternative is $50 a day valet. We would definitely return!

  Amazing location, super-dog friendly

  What a beautiful gem this was! Located 3 mins from a dog park. The room was spacious, clean, and our dog loved it. The staff was so friendly and was so nice to our. Also, the location can’t be beat. Quaint and quiet neighborhood easily walkable to all things fun. We’ll be back for sure!

  The River Inn provided the perfect place for our stay as we travelled from Florida to Rhode Island. The rooms were very comfortable and provided all the amenities we needed to enjoy out stay in the nation’s capital.

  Perfect Location in DC, Terrific Property

  The River Inn is located in Washington's "West End" near Foggy Bottom Metro, a short walk to Georgetown, as well as a short walk to upper Connecticut Avenue , Dupont Circle and other choice destinations. The property itself is lovely - - formerly an apartment building, now rehabbed and converted to premium lodging in a premium neighborhood. This was one of the nicest places we stayed in our trip from New England to Florida. Excellent service and warm hospitality. Nice restaurant in premises.

  Great location, huge rooms

  This hotel is in an awesome spot -- walking distance to a ton of DC's biggest monuments. It's also only a 5 minute walk to the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro Station. With their first-time stay discount, the value is absolutely higher than the cost. The rooms are huge because it was previously an apartment complex. We were able to leave our dog in the room for a few hours without being required to crate him. The reason for knocking off one star is primarily due to the lack of parking. They offer valet parking for $42/night, and the nighttime staff was not super knowledge and/or helpful in directing us to cheaper alternatives. There are a number of public garages within walking distance that charge about $20 less per night. Our dog also had a minor allergic reaction to whatever detergent or fabric softener they use on the bed linens, but that's not necessarily the hotel's fault, and it was quickly resolved with Benadryl and keeping him off the bed. Checkout is at noon, which gives a little extra time to make the most of your visit compared to other hotels, and the front desk stores bags after checkout for free.

  Great location! Gorgeous room! amazing staff!

  This was a last minute stop when I was too tired to keep driving. After a poor sleep in a less than nice dog friendly hotel I was over the moon to pull up to this place. Finally a dog friendly hotel where I didn’t have to give up luxury and location for having my pup without paying an arm and a leg.
  It was so affordable, no pet fee. Definitely coming back.
  Parking fee is $50 valet. Well worth it!

  5 Bones for The River Inn

  The River Inn was very friendly and helpful leading up to our stay. They provided a map of dog friendly parks in the area and gave suggestions for restaurants and things to do. Our room was very spacious and offered plenty of room for our pup. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

  Great place close to everything

  Me and my 70 lb doberman stayed here for four nights around Halloween 2017 and it was excellent. I don't know if it's standard with the rooms but I booked the cheapest available and it had a full (small) kitchen and was incredibly spacious. I was expecting a $25 dollar per night pet fee but when I checked in they said that pets stay free. They keep their pet friendly rooms to the bottom two floors for convenience as well as to keep the upper floors allergen free. There was a back entrance to the stairwell which was super convenient as the lobby was a bit small and could get pretty crowded at times. The neighborhood is super walkable with tons of dogs around, there's a metro station about 3 blocks away and if you want to walk it's only about a mile and half walk to the national mall, which I did not realize before going is also dog friendly. There's even a small dog park for the neighborhood about a block away from the hotel.
