Very accepting of people traveling with dogs. Large park across street. Walking distance to many dog-friendly restaurants. The Hawthorne has great food, but no dog-friendly tables. You can get room service. The lack of any dog friendly tables is the only reason we did not go with 5 bones. Historic hotel in a great location and very dog friendly!

Loved the location of this hotel for my visit with my pups. The commons were next door which was a great location for walks and meeting other dogs and owners. The staff at the hotel were wonderful. I loved the decor and the dog room service menu, too! Would highly recommend.

Friendly staff at hotel, nice accomodations. Common right across the street for dog walks. Dog friendly restaurants all within walking distance. Great place to visit with your dog!

Very conveniently located to all of the things we wanted to see and had a park right next door which made it easy to take the dogs out as needed. The doggy room service menu was so cool and very helpful for one of my dogs who wasn’t interested in his normal food after traveling. The staff was so kind to our dogs and gave them some big biscuits upon check-in. Also worth mentioning, the 6th floor is the only dog friendly floor and put us at ease that other dog owners were on our floor so we wouldn’t run into anyone upset with dogs in their space or bothered by the occasional play bark or squeezing toy.

Truly a dog friendly place! The front desk staff, the wait staff, everyone was kind and helpful. There is a park right across the street to walk the dog. Cozy and clean room, great food. We can’t wait to come back!

A hotel with character... I love that it's dog friendly, sometimes it gets old getting stuck in the 'basic' hotels lol. Amazing hotel, loved the atmosphere and the whole vibe of the place. The front desk staff was so helpful. Prime location, walkable to everything downtown Salem has to offer. They even have a doggie room service menu haha! Loved the 1.5 bathrooms as well, even though the room was on the smaller size, having the extra bathroom is always nice when staying with multiple people, lol. Would love to come back!

Would definitely stay again due to the perfect location of the hotel and dog friendly town. Hotel has a lot of events so gets busy in late afternoon and evening - one inconvenience can be lack of hotel or close by free parking during these times. Lots of hotel parking after the end of the event so could move car then. Advised the management to alert people checking in about this...hope they do so in the future but did not seem interested in my suggestion. How does this relate to dogs? No parking and the extra drive time did not make Fido happy.

We originally tried The Merchant and they are NOT pet friendly. They scoffed at our service dog in training. Hawthorne is right next to the common (park) and has an entire floor for pets! Clean, great location, and quiet.

The staff was helpful, friendly and so sweet to my somewhat curmudgeonly dog. Hawthorne Hotel is so dog friendly there is even a room service menu for dogs. The room (queen) was comfortable, and the location is perfect for everything in Salem. Being on the park (Salem Common) is convenient for a dog walk. I’ve stayed in almost every hotel in Salem, and this one is my favorite.
