I don’t know for the life of me how this place got so many positive reviews. The location is beautiful, but the staff is anything but helpful. We stayed there Monday night after driving 5 hours, and 8 hours the day before that. The next day was going to be our last travel day before we made it to Fayetteville from Fort Riley.
We were hoping to have a nice relaxing evening and to relax a bit the next morning, but that didn’t happen. Our neighbors were intent on constantly entering and exiting their room over and over, starting around 9:30pm and continuing until our first noise complaint and 11pm the constant noise was causing our pups to get anxious, which isn’t normally an issue. We actually stayed at Hyatt two nights prior which was very busy because of a KC Chiefs game. Our dogs had no issue with any noise, plus there were clearly started quiet hours which were respected.
It seems quiet hours aren’t a thing here. The woman at the from desk told us she’d talk to the people in the room, but it didn’t help. They continue going in and out multiple yikes each hour. At 1:30am I called the front desk 3x no answer. My husband went up and she have done excuse about how it was multiple rooms, which we know wasn’t true as it was easy to tell the noise was coming from the same area over and over, and that it was pride going outside for smoke breaks?
At this point she refused to talk to them again. She said we could move, but at 1:30am it would only stress the dogs more, which she didn’t seem to care about. She refused to get in touch with the manager as well, so we wound up sleep deprived the next morning. On top of this, when my husband went to the buffet to get us breakfast, there refused to let him pay for both of us so he could bring the food back to the room. Saying it was against policy. So, you have policy in bringing breakfast that a person is trying try pay for back to the room, but nothing in regards to noise? Do NOT waste your time or money at this place.
- GordonMay 11, 2024Basic
1st floor room, quick access via side door to outside, but basic parking lot. There’s a trail into the woods behind, but staff warned of a bear seen in the parking lot, so not sure it was safe.
- ScottMay 3, 2024Very nice for the price
We picked this hotel mainly because it was inexpensive, and they allowed dogs. Very pleasantly surprised, pretty grounds, nice staff. Dog trails adjacent to popery another obvious plus. Would definitely stay again.
- KateApr 9, 2024Nice dog walking trail
The dog trail was very nice for our dogs. All dogs stay on the first floor. HVAC system is very loud so not very peaceful. The staff was courteous and helpful. 5 bones for dogs, 4 bones for the room.
- JimFeb 27, 2024A trip in the woods
Good clean hotel. Trail access from the hotel parking lot is a bones. Friendly staff and very Fido friendly.
- AdriannaJan 7, 2024Great spot
It was a great location. Easy check-in for us and our pup! Clean, service was friendly, and we booked last minute, so it was a great impromptu decision.
- SummerSep 14, 2023Fantastic in every way
So comfortable and welcoming that I booked an extra night. Best breakfast buffet of any hotel I’ve been to during our cross country trip. And just at the edge of the parking lot is a mini hiking trail especially for dogs. I like that the hotel is on a little hill so that there aren’t any other buildings right next to it. Oh, and the sheets are so soft and comfortable. Wonderful place to stay.
- SteveJul 15, 2023Excellent stay
Very clean. Staff friendly. Entire operation efficient.
- AmyJul 14, 2023Fabulous stay!!
Hotel was very nice! Beautiful spacious room. Nice pool area. Brian (asst. manager) was so accommodating! Our pup loved it as well!
- KathrynMay 8, 2023Perfect stay
Quiet, first floor with lots of exits, clean, bedbug-free. The short hiking trail for dogs in the back is excellent and I appreciate the 24 hour coffee and tea in the lobby. Plus, there was coffee maker, microwave, and fridge in the room.
- LauraApr 13, 2023Nice location
Room was very nice and clean. Easy access to pet areas. Excellent restaurant on site. Only issue, room next door left their dogs unattended for the evening; dogs were very out of control (barking scratching hotel door). 2nd night new neighbors were much quieter😃
- KirbieMar 25, 2023Clean accommodations
Friendly service and we could tell that they were trying to make us all as comfortable as possible.
- ReneeOct 2, 2022Near hiking trails
The hotel is just a mile or two from some great hiking trails. It also is not far from downtown. The staff is friendly. Room was fresh, nicely decorated and clean.
- MollySep 16, 2022Enjoyed our stay
Very clean, friendly staff, great value. Would book again.
- PaulJun 18, 2022Great location on the east side of Asheville
Excellent service
- CookieJun 3, 2022Grounds
Great walking trail off parking lot. About ten minutes to do whole loop. Friendly, dog loving staff.
- MichaelMay 15, 2022Perfect package
This hotel seems tucked away from the world up on a hill East of town but offers great location just 1 mile from all the conveniences you may need. Rooms are nicely remodeled and the property is quiet. Was able to get great rest. Lobby is very attractive with fire place and restaurant. Great areas all around the hotel to take your pet. Easy plentiful parking. Highly recommend. Everything was great except the shower water pressure was a little weak for our taste.
- JanetMar 22, 2022Wonderful
Very nice hotel.
- SybilMar 7, 2022Perfect for us!
2 dogs & me, and a very short stay make for an amazing review! Barely any noise, room right next to the door, exactly what we needed.
- BessMar 6, 2022Holiday Inn East Tunnel Rd., Asheville NC
This was one of the nicest hotels I’ve been in for quite a while. Very friendly and welcoming at the front desk and they were ready with a room for Bella and I. Very convenient and they provided bags and trash cans in a pet area.
- LynnMar 2, 2022Loved our visit
Clean rooms and friendly staff. The walking trail is short but a bonus. The restaurant was efficient with good food and drinks. We would definitely stay here again.
- KarenFeb 14, 2022Friendly Service
We just did a quick overnight at this hotel. We were taken care of by Mark and Tonya. Mark made sure we had a nice room and Tonya made sure we had a fast check out, which we actually didn't have anything to do. The room was nice. I would recommend it.
- KristineFeb 7, 2022Great place all around!
Everyone was lovely and so nice to Max my dog. Above and beyond helpful. The trail for dogs was perfect after a long drive…. My dog enjoyed it thoroughly! I will definitely stay there the next time I drive through! Oh and the food in the restaurant was great!
- HeatherJan 17, 2022Awesome Snowtrip
I booked the hotel based on previous reviews and they did not disappoint. Great location! We drove in just for the winter storm and some fun in the snow. Check in was seamless, room was ready when we arrived. I love that they put us on the first floor so we had easy access for potty breaks. Tracker LOVED the hiking trail right behind the hotel and had a blast exploring the grounds and area in the snow. Highly recommend, we will be back for hiking this spring/summer.
- JeanneDec 21, 2021Great stay with our two dogs
Very professional staff that welcomes pets! Loved the trail just off the parking lot!
- LorraineOct 26, 2021Fido Friendly🐶
Loved the hotel…good location, great staff, very clean and of course very Fido friendly. The grounds of the hotel are landscaped beautifully and also offers a path created through the woods for walking your woofie along with pick up bags and waste receptacles. The hotel has a lovely lobby with comfortable seating and a large stone fireplace. It also has a very good restaurant and cocktail bar which includes a choice of draft beers on tap. The decor of the inside of the hotel is done very tastefully and when I commented on it was told that the owners take pride in it and change it according to the different seasons.
My only problem was with the check-in process. Originally the reservation was made through BringFido for a king, pet friendly room then was notified by email that it was changed to two queens which was not a problem. Upon check in at approximately the 3pm time was told because of shortage in staff our room would not be ready for awhile, that the hotel had been completely booked the day before and was told the only room available was a handicapped room. Explained that we had a standing reservation and was told that was a problem when reservations are made through secondary services like Expedia, etc. and possibly not be honored.
Was very upset since we had driven two days to reach Asheville and had done quite a bit of research to make this reservation. After some discussion he did manage to come up with a double queen pet friendly room that was immediately available. Don’t know why that was not originally offered since that would not have caused undo stress during the check-in process. Other than this, our stay at this Holiday Inn was wonderful (as was the weather) and would highly recommend it.
- TracyOct 9, 2021Amazing EVERYTHING
We had a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn Asheville East! From the minute we walked through the doors, we were welcomed and they seemed genuinely excited that we had our dog Gemma with us. One of the gentlemen (Thomas) asked if he could give her a treat and the other (Jack) said that the best part of his job is seeing all of the pets that people bring. Thomas remembered Gemma’s name and always had a treat for her. She got so excited every time she saw him! There is a short walking trail, but I only walked the first little bit of it.
Thomas told us at check-in not to use it at night because there ARE bears (a mama and her cubs) and there was an incident not too long ago (a dog got aggressive and the bear went after the dog, the owner tried to save the dog… I can’t remember what happened beyond that. Our toddler distracted me!) My son and husband walked the trail (during the day) though and said it was nice. We were on the first floor which was really nice. The landscaping and decor were beautiful. And of course, the mountain view was gorgeous as well. Food and service in the restaurant were great. I do wish the hotel offered some kind of continental breakfast. I would 100% stay at this hotel again the next time we’re in Asheville.
- PatriciaSep 8, 2021What a surprise!
So impressed with Holiday Inn in Asheville, NC. Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, nicely appointed rooms to accommodate our pets and a good restaurant. We will return and if the other Holiday Inns are as nice, we will plan on staying.
- YadirisAug 10, 2021Great hotel for your fur baby
It was very clean. The room were a good size. They have a nice trail behind the hotel to take your fur baby on a small hike and do their necessities. I will give it 5 bones
- CarolAug 4, 2021Friendly
Great for dogs, friendly staff, clean rooms!
- JoannaJul 19, 2021Wonderful stay
Very accommodating for us and our senior pet. Amazing facility.
- HeidiJul 13, 2021Super Pet Friendly
This hotel seems on the newer side. Beautiful wooded scenery with a short dog trail which I highly recommend doing. The staff were friendly and rooms very clean. The whole area seemed well cared for and ample green space for your pets to use the bathroom. If ever through the area again I would definitely stay here again.
- LaurieJul 1, 2021Happy
Very friendly. Really nice clean with a doggie trail out back with poo bags and plenty of disposal sites close by. Love this place!
- LaurenJun 21, 2021Great spot
Clean, convenient bottom levers room. Nice area to walk dogs.
- LeviJun 19, 2021Fun little country stop
Biscuits at the front desk, a nice little restaurant, and a fun little dog walk next to the parking lot.
- JillianMay 25, 2021Best Hotel for Dogs EVER
Gorgeous location, with beautiful surrounding areas for dog walks. The landscaping at Holiday Inn Asheville East is magnificent, with tons of colorful blooms. The room was spotless & beautifully detailed, the lobby is charming & homey, breakfast in the restaurant was delicious—but the dog walk behind the hotel is incredible! I’ve never seen anything like it at a hotel. Tree bark-covered winding pathways, shady leafy trees, various species of birds calling to one another
- GlennMay 12, 2021Nice hotel and walking trail
Pet friendly hotel.
- RMay 11, 2021Beautiful setting and very dog friendly!
I chose to stay here based on the high reviews and the amenities provided for a dog travelers and I was not disappointed! The setting is beautiful, the dog walk can't be beat, the accommodations were comfortable, and the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. I wish I was not just passing through and could spend more time here and in the area. Plan to arrive while it is still light to enjoy the scenery and the dog walk.
- DefenderApr 29, 2021Great location!
This was the best stop by far on a long and impromptu road trip with 2 large dogs this Spring from IL to GA. Hotel itself had a nice personality and Mountain View’s/decor. Green, peaceful surroundings including a true woodland walking trail built for dog walks on site. Lovely! Room was large, comfy, quiet and really, just perfect for us. Highly recommend. 🐾
- PaulApr 5, 2021Very Nice!
The Holiday Inn East Asheville treated us well. The room was nicer than I expected. The hotel has built walking trails on six acres of wooded property on the backside of the parking lot that makes it a really unique pet hotel! Further, the largest dog park in Asheville is just 5 minutes away. All in all, very nice stay.
- EricAug 24, 2020Awesome Stay
Not only was the staff awesome to us and our doggy. The hotel and grounds itself were very pet and guest friendly. It was very clean and our pup was welcomed throughout the hotel. We will definitely be staying here again!!!
- PatriciaJul 4, 2020Excellent Stay
Great hotel to stay with your dogs, but be aware if you are not booking direct that dogs are only allowed on the ground floor. I booked through BringFido and I got the option for a Mountain view Room and was charged in line with my options, but the hotel put us in their rooms for dog owners that do not have a Mountain view. The hotel did refund my dog fee because of this, but they didn't have to do that.
Rooms were clean and great little dog areas to relieve them!
- AllisonMar 13, 2020Our pups were loved!!
Front desk took such an interest in our pups and gave them good treats. I could feel the love!!
- JasmineMar 12, 2020Good first stop!
My husband and I stopped here for the first leg of our trip to CA. The walking trail was really nice and our room was on the first floor close to the door. Only issue we had was that we couldn’t get a king bed room and our reservation was changed to 2 queens the day before.
- DeannMar 2, 2020Great stay!!
We stayed here based on reviews alone and it was completely worth it. Thomas the manager is so very friendly and also a military veteran and treated us very well. Rooms were nice and clean. But we went for the dogs. Dog trail, treats at check-in and they did not treat us like outcasts. We cant wait to go back.
- SandraFeb 1, 2020Love the dog walk
A fine, clean room. Best feature, though, was a hiking trail for walking dogs right off the parking lot into the wooded hillside.
- AleciaNov 16, 2019Great stay with my pup!
This hotel was perfect for my pup. We used the walking trail in the back of the hotel every day for some quick walks. They even have three lit designated pet relief areas and waste bags, which was perfect when I ran out of my own. The hotel staff were really friendly and never made me feel like my pet did not need to be there. We ended up having to stay an extra night due to the unexpected weather and they were very accommodating. I would stay here again.
- BobcatNov 13, 2019Best Dog Walk Ever
This is a great hotel for dogs. They have an entire wooded area with several paths just for dogs. It is decorated with birdhouses and wood sculptures so we humans can enjoy it, too. The rooms are clean, the staff is kind to dogs and give them treats. The “dog” rooms are on the first floor, close to everything. This is an award-winning hotel. The flowers (one of the owners is a master gardener) are lovely and the hotel is beautifully decorated. We stay there every year before Christmas to enjoy the Christmas decorations and sit in front of the big fire—with our dogs—and drink hot cocoa in the lobby. I truly hate hotels
- Ally & GaryAug 23, 2019Holiday Inn Asheville Biltmore East
This hotel was wonderful. You feel like you are in a 5* ski lodge.
I booked through BringFido so I did not have the usual, "I hope this check in goes well" feeling. We were traveling with 2 dogs, one 40 pounds and one 65 pounds. If you want to leave the dogs in your room while you go out they must be left in kennels. We always travel with portable soft kennels so that was no problem. I think I remember reading on the pet agreement that they offer them at the hotel for a modest fee. The agreement also stated that if they received two phone calls concerning barking disturbance that they can charge your credit card up to $250. You will have to read that more closely for the details. I don't remember if that was only if a guest left due to barking or just two phone complaints. I thought this was fair due to the atmosphere of this upscale hotel. Pre training your dog to feel comfortable while being left in a soft kennel for a short while is good idea all around. They have a beautiful hiking trail right there on the grounds. Our room was really really nice!! Way more upscale compared to a La Quinta. The hotel itself also had a bar and restaurant. The charge for the dogswas $45 total added to the bill, not $45 per dog. - StefJul 29, 2019Amazing Place To Stay With Your Pup
My 65 pound boxer and I stayed here while we visited the Asheville area and loved the experience. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and welcoming to my very large pup. When we checked in, they gave us a floor on the first floor so that we would have to take the elevator and a pup magnet for the door so the staff knew you had a furry baby in the room with you. I noticed that most the rooms on the first floor had these pup magnets so there were plenty of other families staying there with their furry babies. The room was huge and had an area that had linoleum tile where I pup my pups water and food. The staff also told me there was a hiking path (about a quarter mile) for us to walk our pups..it was so nice...the ground has a path with wood chips so your pup won’t get muddy even if it rains. There’s also a fire hydrant, dog house, and swing along the path. I can’t believe the hotel put so much effort into creating a welcoming space for their furry guests. There’s also a small area out front that’s lite up really well in case your pup has to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. All and all, we were so pleased with the hotel and would recommend it to anyone passing through that area.
- BradleyJun 23, 2019Fantastic hotel, very dog friendly
Updated and super clean family-friendly, & dog-friendly hotel. We were pleasantly surprised at just how nice it was, and how great the staff is. Rooms are comfortable, clean and contemporary. Our daughter and dog loved the nature trail behind the hotel.
- PaulaDec 23, 2017Great Place to Stay with a Pooch
We so much enjoyed our stay in this hotel with our 95 pound dog. Our room was clean, comfortable, and appeared to have been very recently remodeled. We loved the day bed/sofa where we could watch tv and cuddle with our dog. The staff was friendly and accomodating. We got takeout to enjoy in our room one night from the hotel's restaurant and the food was very good. This hotel has a dog walking trail that is perfect for a quick morning or evening walk with the dog. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling with or without a dog.
