  Very disappointing stay

  I was expecting a room on a floor with direct access to the outside, but was placed on the 3rd floor. The "secure" door to the exterior was broken and accessible to anyone. My room had a bad lock - it let me in the first time, then I had to get an employee to come back and help me with the keys, multiple times. Keys were reprogrammed and still didn't work. I thought they would have maintenance fix it the next day while I was gone, but no luck until I came across the maintenance man myself and asked him to do it. This 100% Non Smoking hotel had a strong odor of cigarettes, marijuana, and air freshener through the hallways that made me nauseous and I could still smell it in the room. The carpet in the room was filthy, as was the fabric on the daybed. I left after the first night of what was supposed to be a three night stay.

  DO NOT STAY HERE

  We have always found La Quinta resorts to be reliable and predictable until this trip. DO NOT STAY HERE! It is a total pit. The hallway and room stank of pot and cigarette smoke. Not sure whether sheets were clean or not so slept on top if the bed. We stayed in a "dog-friendly" room that smelled like other dogs had relieved themselves on the carpet and it had not been cleaned. No place to walk the dog outside. No coffee in the morning, place too dirty to eat in anyway. When we checked out the guy behind me was telling the front desk that he had to change his room 5 times the night before to find a clean room.
  The front door had good rating signs from reputable places (AAA/ Trip Advisor/Booking.com) but they had been fooled and should change their ratings. NO WAY this is 3 stars!

  Very sketchy

  My ceiling leaked from the floor above me all night leaving a loud annoying water drop sound all night.
  The doors to the outside of the building are supposed to be entry by room key only for safety and they were not. As a female staying alone that made me feel very unsafe. Workers were friendly! One elevator did not work at all. Vending machines out of service.

  The worst hotel experience I've ever had. This was my first time staying at a hotel with my dog so that's how I ended up at the dog friendly La Quinta. When I walked in the main entrance to check in I noticed two off leash dogs. I understand dog friendly but leashing your dog in a hotel lobby should be mandatory. Upon check in I learned the main elevator was broken and the key cards only work at the front entrance. Okay, whatever.

  The night took an unsafe turn around 1:30am when knocking began at my door. I thought it was a fluke until the knocking continued, this time more aggressively. I looked out the peephole to notice this man was leaning into the door. At this point I reached for the phone in the room to call the front desk, the phone didn't work. The knocking continued. I had to google the front desk number and call from my cell phone. After 2 calls to the front desk they told me it was a 'misunderstanding'. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone but especially advice staying far away for women traveling alone.

  Very disappointed

  The only reason I am giving 1 bone is because the room was nice. Check-in was an unnecessarily long process. The grounds of this hotel were covered with trash, including bags of trash hanging from stair railings. The pet waste disposal receptacle was overflowing. Our room was right next to a rear entrance, which resulted in kids and adults hanging around our door all evening. There were children running up and down the hallways until well after midnight. We did not bother calling the front desk, as the children were running right past them. Obviously the desk clerk was fully aware of the situation. The young lady who checked us in was polite. The desk clerk who checked us out was polite and friendly. The rest of the staff were surly, bordering on rude.

  Disappointing

  The staff were occupied with their phones and visiting with each other while the floors were in obvious need of vacuuming, & trash needed to be picked up inside and out. Poor appearance and service.

  Good Location

  This would have been a great experience except that the door to the outside that was closest to our room was broken and the elevator near our room was out of service. This caused a lot of undo maneuvering to get the dogs out. The room was okay.

  Super Disappointing!

  Travelled to this location on 07/23. Was traveling with a newly obtained, 230+ lb English mastiff. Now, unfortunately, the boy is a little bit overweight (I'll be taking care of that!) but given it was July in North Carolina is was HOT. First room they assigned to us had NO A/C, which is a no-go when traveling with a dog of this size and stature. You have to consider that it was well over 100 degrees out, and he was basically wearing a winter coat between the fur and the extra lbs. So I asked them if they at least had a fan. They told me they were all locked up and couldn't help me. So I asked to be changed rooms, to which they reluctantly agreed. The room they assigned me to the second time, not only did not have A/C, but also did not have cable. Also, the characters that were hanging around the hotel.

  No foul on the front desk's part, they were friendly and accommodating for the most part. But If this is supposed to be a pet-friendly hotel, they should at least have the facilities to accommodate. After contending with this situation for some time, and trying to make it work, I cancelled my reservation and asked for a full refund at around midnight, only to go to the Hilton Garden Inn next door. It was more expensive, but at least there I knew I wasn't going to give my dog heat stroke, and that he would be happy and safer.

  Quiet place, clean room and comfortable beds. The lighting was very dim, especially in the bathroom and the building itself feels like it’s long overdue for a makeover. The front desk person was friendly and helpful.

  Good price but bugs and smell

  Very good price with no pets fee! Easy access to outside for dogs! But the whole floor smelt like cat pee and we entered the room with two big bugs on the floor!!

  Disappointing

  Usually when we traveling with our dogs we prefer La Quinta. Not this one. Room showed obvious signs of numerous dog stains on carpet AND furniture. It was gross.

  Good Stay

  There was a decent odor of dog in the room upon entry. I know its difficult with pet friendly hotels to fully address it however it was noticeable particularly in the bathroom.

  Good location but not the cleanest

  Have stayed here before a few years back, no issues. This time was different. Lots of ants all over room. Every table top. Room smelled so bad like urine. Should probably not be carpeted. Maybe all tile better . Garbage piled up at all outdoor Garbage cans. Overflowing.

  Spacious Rooms

  I have a 55 pound dog and finding a hotel that will not only take her but doesn't charge a pet fee is a great deal. The room was a little dated, but spacious and clean. I had to work from the room during the day and was thrilled by the massive amount of desk space. Hotel staff was friendly.

  Dark, Damp and Musty

  I gave a 2 star because of location. Our room was dark, damp feeling and musty. The furniture was old, worn and dirty. I wanted to leave buy we had the dogs and it was the only place to stay with pets. While there we did see the same little red car bring at least 3 loads of homeless people with trash bags full of their clothes, brooms and mops. to the hotel. They always came in the back door. So, one of the rooms had at least 10 homeless people in it. I believe there were more homeless people staying there too. There were several cars in the parking lot that looked like they were being lived out of. So, in short it is basically a place for homeless people to stay (in the back of the hotel) and the worn carpet, dank rooms speak to that.

  Pretty nice!

  It was a pretty nice room, the bed was super comfortable and there was plenty of room for us and the dogs. It seemed well kept. The only downsides were being able to hear other guests pretty well(they seemed loud to begin with so it might not be the walls) and we woke up to ants all over the desk area. All of our food was sealed but they were into a bag of chews for the dogs. Make sure everything is sealed up and you'd be fine!

  Clean - comfy beds

  The people that work there were exceptionally nice and the bed was very comfortable in the room was clean. We didn’t have breakfast but overall very pleased. Will definitely try to book there again when we’re in town but they seem to book up Quickly

  Friendly staff and easy access to room

  Friendly staff and Manager. We booked through BringFido, last minute with Jill. She was great and we had a special request since we had 3 small dogs. Jill contacted the manager and got permission for 3 instead of 2. No problem and the staff welcomed us and the dogs. Access to the room was easy and close to where are car was parked.

  Very clean hotel and dog friendly

  This was the second time I have stayed at this hotel. Though the people I visit are on the other side of town, its a nice quick drive thru town to get there and worth it. I will stay there again in future trips to Raleigh.

  Excellent choice for Raleigh area

  I don't get around to submitting a lot of reviews, but this was perhaps my best pet-traveling experience ever. As well, the hotel is very attractive inside and out--very clean, comfortable and elegant room layout, and some nice touches like the recessed entranceways. We had easy access to the outside, there was an immaculate little pet yard in back, but also a trail through public (?) woodland in back. We were within walking distance from the Crabtree Valley Mall and some excellent eateries (Panera for lunch and Seasons 52 for dinner). Looking forward to return visit.

  Location was good and accessible to restaurants. It was nice to have a room next to the gym and the exit door.

  This La Quinta is a good one. The hotel and its rooms are spacious and clean with the expected amenities. The room is well-designed and the bathroom is bigger than in most hotels.
  Only two things keep this from a higher rating from us. One is the long distance from the lobby to the (small) elevator, which is an issue for a couple of seniors with a loaded baggage cart. Next time we would specify being on a ground floor and not too far from the lobby.
  The second issue is the surprising lack of green space for dogs. The hotel is very pet friendly, with no pet fee charged. But we didn't find much in the way of grass for them in our walks.

  Loved our Dog Friendly Hotel

  Great trip and enjoyed our dog friendly hotel. Grounds around hotel had green space and stocked doggie poop disposal bags!
  Will definitely use this hotel again for our next Raleigh stay!

  Great Staff/Large Rooms

  Although not downtown, it was a short drive from the hotel. The hotel is lovely, clean and there is ample space to walk the pooch. Our room was very large and comfortable. However, upon arriving, we were given a room that had a very strong disinfectant odor. After leaving for hours, it still smelled that way and began to become offensive. Since we were staying for several days, I asked to have our room changed. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating having me inspect 2 other rooms. Unfortunately, the cleaning staff did not clean our room on day 2. Upon arriving back late, again the front desk staff was apologetic and offered to do anything(bring up towels and sheets/ Dump our garbage pails). Without us asking or making a fuss, they took $30 off the bill. Although it was not 5 bones, I would certainly stay here again.
