Reviews
- RickFeb 25, 2023Nice patrons and staff
The inn has quintessential, old school, New England charm. The Tavern room my Boston Terrier Max and I stayed in was perfect for the two of us. There was a large common area just outside the room that has plenty of seating to socialize with others if you're so inclined. Max was petted often and had, "Oh he's so cute" accolades throughout his stay. I swear his head was a bit swelled by the end of our trip.
The other review mentions that the Tavern noise can be distracting, so if you go to bed before 10p I would not recommend one of these rooms. My dog didn't mind and I didn't go to bed until 11p and after that the noise had subsided. It's not a late night Tavern. If there are a total of five rooms then there must be two dog friendly rooms in the main part of the hotel which would be larger rooms and probably would not be affected by the Tavern rumblings. I'd advise asking about their location when booking.
The manager was very accommodating when I was trying to decide if I needed to book for another night due to an arriving snow storm and blocked off the room until I was able to make a decision the next morning. Everything is very chill in the morning and you'll just encounter a very accommodating young lady who's busy getting everything ready for the day and always has the self-service coffee station ready for your morning brew. It almost feels like you're staying at a relatives home and you can come and go as you please throughout the day.
I love the vibe in the Tavern and was able to comfortably chat with the other customers and the staff. There is live apres ski music on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as Hoot Night on Tuesdays where you'll likely see several area musicians sharing the spotlight playing a variety of classic covers and original tunes.
If you like to travel with your fury friend and like a casual New England inn that offers comfort food, libations, and entertainment that perfectly matches the quaint town of Jackson then this may be the inn for you.
- SaraJun 25, 2019Nice rooms, but too noisy for my dog
Dogs are allowed, but I wouldn't recommend bringing a dog unless the dog is super chill and loves people. The place was cute and clean, and had plenty of room for the dog to spread out. I loved how it had historic charm but still felt clean and comfortable.
Still, Tavi didn’t like it. There were too many noises.
When I travel to the mountains, it is for skiing and hiking, so it is important that my dog, spouse, and I can get to bed early and get a good night's sleep. However, when there is live music until ten o'clock, people outside and in the lobby talking loudly until after 11, and a busy kitchen below your room, that isn't so easy. Even when the music stopped and the people started leaving, it sounded like there was a stampede of horses below my room.
If you are the type who is going to be down stairs with the party and have a dog who doesn’t mind a little noise, you’d be fine. But if you have one who gets nervous or barks a lot, then this isn’t the place for you. Tavi was very spooked by all the noise and was terrified walking through the lobby.
The Inns only outdoor space had seating for their restaurant, so I never brought him out there even though technically, I could have. Instead, I crossed the street to a big park and walked him through there. He did love the park and the little path on the river. However, there were no outdoor barrels at the park or at the inn. In other words, there was no where to dispose of his waste after he did his business. I didn't want to bring it in my room, so I put in it in the car and threw it out when we drove by a gas station with an outside barrel.
It was also very hard to get the room to cool off even when the nights dropped down to the 50s.
Would I go back? Maybe. In the winter when I go skiing, I leave Tavi to have a sleep over with his buddy at my parent’s house. For one of those ski trips, I’d consider staying at the Wildcat Inn and Tavern, but I’d ask to stay on the third floor.
However, this is not my first choice in Jackson.
