  Good rooms for dogs, but dated on the inside. Staff was excellent and kind.

  SKIP! Don't go! Gross!!!

  First, let me tell you that I have stayed in Residence Inns by Marriott since 2011. Normally I have really good experiences. This was a nightmare. If I could I would give it zero bones. The check clerk was unpleasant; a bad day is OK, but really? Do you need to be impolite to someone who is coming to spend money at your place?

  I was told we would be on the second floor. I said, "OK, where is the elevator to that floor?" Her response: "We don't allow dogs in rooms that are accessible by elevator. You have to stay in the rooms that are on the outside of the buildings." With that, she told me I would be in building 7, room 21. I said I would like to check it out. She said I had to be checked in first, so I thought "Ok." I spoke up and told her I was concerned about the stairs and wasn't sure I could manage to get my things and the dog up and down the stairs (the dog is fine, I cannot pick up heavy things). I got the keys and went to the room.

  Boomer and I walked in...and trust me, I have stayed in just about every brand of hotel the US has to offer on the East Coast. Road trips are not new to us. I thought I had seen, smelled and heard it all. Nope, we missed one! The place was so smoky my eyes are still burning (almost six hours later), and my throat really hurt. I could not breathe in that room. I promptly got out of there. A bit about safety: the stairs were newly painted (they were dry). They could be pretty slippery if it rained.

  I returned to the clerk, and said I am checking out. She did not offer another room. When she didn't do that, I just said, "I don't like the room, or the location. This one smelled disgusting. I have never had this experience at a Residence Inn." I called BringFido, and Eric helped me find a nice Holiday Inn (IHG) close by with a much better price, and only a $50 pet fee. Better yet: there is a place to eat in the hotel (with real food), and it is quiet.

  Easy walking

  We stayed at the Residence Inn for one night while traveling. I liked how to road out front was not busy and had lots of grassy areas to walk. Mostly good.

  No surprises.

  The property was as expected: secure, clean and conveniently located. We did not interact with staff much but check-in and check-out went smoothly.

  Nice people run it.

  Nice people. Nice layout of property. Refrigerator ice machine not working, and oven needs to be cleaned.
