There were no doggie bags in the dispenser located at the area where your dog was to do their business for our entire 2 day stay, so people did not pick up after their pets; it was a mine field. Housekeeping did not make beds or bring clean towels. Mold was dispensed along with your ice from the ice machine in the reception area so you could not use the ice in your drink. The picture of the check in/out area looked very nice, even showed an area where you could get coffee. This was not open. You had to go into a dirty little 9 x 10 room and check in/out thru a plexiglass window. Staff was not friendly.

This is the first time I've travelled with my beagle, and I was thrilled to find Red Roof Plus. I was not expecting The Four Seasons, so the accommodations were perfect. Clean, secure, spacious room with TV, fridge, microwave, lots of pillows, great shower, coffee and snacks. Staff was friendly & helpful, and free ample parking was appreciated. I deducted one star (bone) because of the condition of their behind-the-building doggy relief area. In theory, it's a fabulous idea - somewhere to bring the dogs so they don't have to be walked alongside the highway. But it was nasty!
I understand that no employee wants to be the one on poop detail, but SOMEONE needs to tend to that part of the property. Both trash cans were overflowing with baggies of dog poop, and it's not that they accumulated that day...mine was the only dog I saw all day/night/next morning. Also, that section behind the back parking lot was covered in trash, including a bunch of beer bottles; it looked like a spot where high school kids come to hang out and "party." But other than that, we had a very nice overnight stay at Red Roof Plus Alexandria, and I recommend it to future visitors travelling in that area!

The location was safe (not quiet though) but the room was shabby at best. Sink, shower fixtures were workable but clearly in serious disrepair. The shower curtain stunk of mildew badly. Room worked out in an emergency but I wouldn’t stay with this hotel/motel chain in the future.

The lingering smell of smoke in our room made it very easy to decide that one night was all we were going to need at this location. Our bathroom door not only did it not lock, but it barely shut all the way. The hand held shower attachment was coming off of the shower wall and the fan in our bathroom reminded me of an old out board motor. Basically, it’s nothing pretty but it’s ok for a quick stay with your pet.

Easy check-in and no problems whatsoever. I just told them I have a cat with me (as the sign says to let them know) and I just had to sign a couple of things saying I wouldn't leave her unattended and some other simple stuff. We're very pleased!

Stayed at great Red Roof in Charleston SC. Location in Alexandria VA a disappointment. Room was left (be fore our arrival) with heat on at 90+ degrees. Room smelled of smoke.

You get what you pay for! Cheap hotel, nothing fancy. There’s a nice grassy area to take your dog, the room was clean and bed was comfy. The staff was very kind. My only negative was that the air conditioner was pretty awful, the room felt muggy and humid the whole night. 4/5 bones does not mean a 4/5 star hotel - keep that in mind for your expectations.

Go with the premium king or premium double. Rooms are clean and comfy beds. Area to walk dog. Premium room king has super king size bed, k cup style coffee maker, microwave. Refrigerator, and you get a snack pack. Floors are tiled with area rugs. Staff is helpful and friendly. Hairdryer, iron, ironing board in room. You control air and heat.
