  Nice location but…

  We stayed one night with our dog. The room needed TLC and a serious cleaning! Dog hair and human hair found in the bed sheets! Dirty floors and a musty smell coming from the carpet. They should remove all carpeting in the dog-friendly rooms and upgrade their ventilation system. do NOT recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates a clean and healthy sleep environment!

  The location is great. Vet pet friendly with no pet fee! We only stopped for the night and it was convenient. However, the room didn’t smell great. You can definitely tell they have certain rooms designated for pets and whoever was there before us must have mini animal shelter in there. Other then that, it’s a great place to stop if you have a pet.

  Great Stay!

  We stayed with our two pups and everything went well. Room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Comfy bed, awesome shower and plenty of space for our pups to move around. Easy in and out and lots of green area. Hotel is right in the middle of lots of retail and restaurants. Nice sidewalks for walking the pups, lots of trees for some shade and plenty of benches to take a break. Would definitely stay there again. Parking was free and on the premises. Alice was very friendly and super helpful.

  Great location!

  Our dogs Otto and Penny enjoyed their stay at this hotel. The walls are slightly thin in the hotel so you could hear other rooms, and at times we could hear a dog barking (but I guess that's to be expected in a hotel that allows dogs!). I'd definitely come back! Lots of great space outside to walk your dog.

  It’s always a great stay at an Aloft. Our check-in was speedy. The staff was beyond courteous and even asked if we had a floor preference. Our room was clean and cozy. The convenience of a grassy dog area across the street about the size of a football field was convenient for potty time and playing. There were plenty of dog friendly establishments in the neighborhood too. We travel a lot for dog shows and don’t always have the option of nicer hotels at a reasonable price. I’ve stayed in Aloft hotels in a few different cities. They never disappoint. We felt beyond welcome at Aloft and will be sure to reserve a room here again next time we are in VA. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Oh, the best we have slept in a long time-no need to bring travel sheets and blanket!

  Amazingly Acommodating

  We stayed at this hotel twice over the Christmas holiday. On our way home our adjoining room had a couple that was very loud. I simply asked the front desk if we could be moved as my small dog can be noise reactive, and without hesitation or questioning she moved us. There are restaurants all around the hotel so you don't need to go far for a meal.100% will be staying here again!

  This was a great find. Friendly staff. Beautiful room. Right across from a large off leash dog park. Next to a dog-friendly pub that had some delicious cocktails and Octoberfest food. A little off I-95 for our trek south but worth the detour.

  Ok to stay for a night

  They didn’t make any special accommodations for our two dogs. They put us near the elevator both times we’ve stayed here, the dogs hate the noise and strangers walking by. They did give us extra pillows when we asked. Nice staff, just not anything special because of dogs.

  Easy access to green areas and a fantastic restaurant with a few dog menu items to choose from, dog treats and fresh water. I would stay here just to go to the restaurant! Hotel was nicely appointed. No internet without paying extra, and staff not friendly.

  Wouldn’t allow us to cancel or reschedule even with a severe snow storm in the area. Tried to reschedule or be refunded, as it was unsafe to travel to the area in severe snow and ice conditions, and was told this was not possible. We obviously did not end up staying and risking driving in 6 inches of snow and ice, but still had to pay $150.

  One of the best hotel chains, but this wasn’t the cleanest location. Bathmat had stain and it didn’t feel thoroughly cleaned between guests.

  We have stayed at this location multiple times since it is in the same neighborhood as family members. The rooms and public areas have been clean. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We travel with two dogs and the location (both inside and out) make it a pleasant trip for them, as well as for us. Highly recommend!

  We had a rough start, but once moved to a new room things leveled out. The staff was friendly, the area is great location. Good for short stays with your dog, the second floor for bathroom tripsvin the middle of the night was avlittle of a struggle for us.

  Ask for a quiet room at end of hall

  The room was clean and smartly designed, in a Scandinavian way, however, the insulation/noise proof measures were inadequate. We could hear normal conversation level noise from the room next door through the wall. If I were to stay at Aloft again, I would request a room at the end of a hall (whether or not I had a dog in the room) and no next door neighbor. Our room was the first one off of the elevator on 3rd floor, and all night long (well beyond midnight) folks were getting off the elevator and talking in full voices; our dog, normally a VERY well trained Golden Retriever, gave 2 very sharp barks every time this occurred. We had a disruptive night, and I am guessing that our neighbors’ sleep was disrupted by the hall noise and our dog’s response.
  Otherwise, the hotel is adequate. Nothing special to make it a first choice other than it’s location.

  We had no issues at all with this hotel! The room was very clean. There was a huge area next to the hotel to take our dogs to do their business. The hotel is located in a beautiful, upscale area of Richmond with many stores and restaurants within walking distance. Definitely recommend!

  Comfortable Bed, nice area for dogs outside. No breakfast, not even bagged. Had to pay for snacks. No water in room, coffee lid was covered in coffee stains. Front desk attendant was off-putting, maybe a bit rude. Nice area though.

  Quiet and comfy stay

  Excellent value. This hotel is on the second level and up of a building, but has easy free indoor parking and grass across the street. Other Alofts I have stayed in have sometimes been noisy, but this one was super quiet and the beds very comfy. Our dog slept in her own queen bed and very much enjoyed that. The rooms were carpeted and definitely a bit worn, but for the price, I didn’t mind. A mini-fridge is also nice!

  Great surroundings

  This hotel was a little further off 95 than I was looking for, but I was glad I had chosen it. The walls of the rooms were better sound proofed than other hotels I have stayed in. There were at least 5 other dogs on the floor and we couldn’t hear any of them. The best part was the surroundings around the hotel. In front of the hotel is a large landscaped square which you can walk the dog in. There are also nice walking paths and a playground around the back of all the townhouses which are behind the hotel and there are restaurants and stores in front of the hotel. It was quiet and convenient. I would stay there again.

  This place is a dog lovers utopia. The center of the little city has a big green field perfect for dogs. It is right out front of the hotel. The streets are lined with so many food options. Parking is free and readily available for both indoor and street.
  The hotel was spacious, modern, clean and comfortable beds! I love hotels that love dogs!

  This hotel met my needs for lodging with my large dog. There was nothing special. As the hotel was full, we had to ride the elevator to the fourth floor and walk down most of the hallway to get to our room. Last year I had a room on the second floor, which made it much easier to take my dog outside for a walk. However, this location is ideal for exercising your dog as there is a large grassy area and lots of residential sidewalks near the hotel for walking. Also, there are several restaurants nearby that you can walk to for a meal or take out.

  I found Aloft through Bring Fido when I was invited to my friends wedding in VA, we live 7 hours north and I knew it was a trip I’d want to bring my 6 year old Pitbull on. I called the hotel and asked if they had any breed restrictions, and they did not nor any fees! when we checked in on a Thursday night the woman at the front desk was incredibly welcoming and friendly and as we came through the lobby each day numerous times, the employees were all so friendly and greeted us each time. the area around the hotel was incredibly pet friendly with sidewalks, plenty of grass area, trails, and poop bag stations at almost every block. it was an absolutely amazing experience and we stayed 3 nights. I absolutely recommend and will definitely seek them out again when I travel. because of Aloft and they’re open and welcoming policy, I had an amazing trip that I’ll cherish forever.

  This is an upscale hotel in a newly developed community (Short Pump, VA). All of it is dog friendly. Rooms are on the third level so your canine partner has to either utilize stairs or an elevator. I would stay here again if I find myself in this area.

  Happy Place To Stay With Dogs!

  I was glad I followed the largely good reviews here and booked this hotel for my trip rather than a less expensive option! I rank it highly because the staff was completely accommodating of the two minor issues I had.

  Here are the highlights:
  1) LOTS of green space to walk dogs, plenty of doggie waste stations in the surrounding area. The hotel is right off of a pedestrian mall with restaurants, a grocery store and some other businesses. The grass in the pedestrian mall (just a few steps away) is less worn than the potty area right across the street, but like everywhere in America, some people just refuse to clean up after their dogs so watch where you step.
  2) I was able to travel with two large dogs (I train service dogs) and NO PET FEES. Brilliant.
  3) The room comes with a little pet mat and they have an extra sheet over the comforter to protect it from dogs (it was raining the whole time I was there so that was a plus).
  4) At check in, we got free travel water bowls and a card to hang on the door so housekeeping would know not to enter due to dogs. It was these touches that made me feel like the dogs were welcome and not just permitted.

  Other details:
  1) From what I gather all dog rooms are on the 2nd floor. The way it is set up, you enter an alcove on ground floor and take stairs or elevator to 2nd floor to check in desk. There are two wings. To the left of the elevators (last the bar) is also where the swimming pool is located. My initial room was very near the pool and the smell of chlorine was overwhelming. Luckily I was able to switch rooms to the hall to the right of the elevators and no odors. I would recommend requesting a room away from the pool if you are at all sensitive to this type of thing.
  2) Another reviewer mentioned their dog finding a toy under the bed from another dog and questioned the cleanliness. My dog retrieved a plastic cup with some sort of dried purple liquid in it. Luckily they are trained to retrieve and not consume. I mentioned it at check out and since my room was prepaid they took off the charge for the $10 or $15 I had spent at their snack bar and billed to the room as a courtesy. I didn’t notice anything else in the room that didn’t seem clean to me. There was a mini frig (which I found out was actually a freezer unintentionally), a coffee maker,

  Would Stay Again

  The hotel is in a great location and super pet friendly. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The only problem we had was that they hadn't upgraded the HVAC in our room yet so it got a little warm at night.

  Beautiful, trendy, and clean hotel. Everyone was so friendly and very accommodating to our fur baby. Lots to do in and around hotel, shopping restaurants. Plenty of grassy areas to run and play. Very happy with this stay.
